I recently bought a 1976 3-piece silver proof set on ebay. I just got it and while the coins look good, the quarter and ike shake a bit in their capsules. Has anybody else seen this issue, or should I be suspicious? Thank you!

I think a photo may be in order or if that would be a problem then the ebay addy for the item you bought would at least let us see the item. If your concerned about the coins movement in the holder that shouldn't be of concern because holders were a lot different in 1976.

Aye, welcome to the forum! Pictures would be essential to judge.

Like BadToTheBone said, a lot has changed holder-wise since 1976.

If you are in doubt you can do the tissue test without having to remove the coins from the holder.

the tissue test would determine if it was silver or not w/o removing it from the holder.

To the exact question, yes, the coins sometimes do rattle around in the holders. If that is your only concern, then no, they are not counterfeit.

BUT, if they are rattling around because they are poorly made counterfeits...

Its the only way to be sure. (Name the movie reference hehehe)
