Hey, I know this topic has been touched a lot by me, and since it involves both a coin and a banknote, I really don't want to make seperate topic in the coin forum and the paper currency forum (though if people want me to, in the future, please tell me).
Now most of you probably know I support a circulating $2 coin, $200 bill, and a reissued $500 bill, retaining the McKinley obverse and denomination-in-circle reverse.
So, who would like to see a Ronald Reagan circulating $2 coin, if we get rid of the $1 and $2 bills, and a Theodore Roosevelt $200 bill, with an image of Mount Rushmore on the reverse of these new $200 bills?
Or maybe a Theodore Roosevelt $2 coin and a Ronald Reagan $200 bill? But what would they put on the reverse of a Ronald Reagan $200 bill? (I know it would probably be something involving Reagan, or some government building or monument) Any ideas?
And what would go on the reverse of the $2 coin? Some type of eagle design?

OK with T. Roosevelt on any denomination, but Reagan on a coin or currency would be ridiculous.

Sorry guys. I just thought from what I've read and seen that there were a bunch of Reagan fans out there. I myself am not a Reagan fan, no offense meant, to those who are.

I think a $200 bill would be very cool.

Yeah, but one thing bothers me. I saw on the news about a month ago, that in around the year 2017, the U.S. Dollar is predicted to be worth more than the Euro, so, is there still that chance at all, that we Americans will get out $200 and $500 bills? I mean, even if the U.S. Dollar becomes worth more than the Euro, there is still inflation going on, and eating at the U.S. Dollar, right?

I think, any $2 coin would probably be less popular than the current Presidential $1 coins, and I use $100 notes so rarely that a $200 note would have very little purpose for me. [the above is my opinion, your mileage may vary]

I don't really know if I'd use them in everyday transaction as I rarely have a hundred dollar bill and I would probably just hoard the $2 coin as I currently do with the half dollar and dollar coins I come across. I don't know why I started saving them just thought it would be fun to save the ones I came across and in the past year or so I've saved around $120 worth. Not a bad little haul as an extra way to save some money.
i was wondering though has there ever been designs by the mint that have been released to the public in picture form at least?

Well, what do you guys think? Should we ax the $1 and $2 notes at the same time, and issue new $2 coins at the same time we issue the $1 coins for general circulation (to replace the $1 note) to replace the $2 note at the same time? Or, should we redesign the $2 note, keep it around for 5-10 years after the $1 note is gone, similar to Canada? I have mixed feelings on the idea. One side of me says "Yeah! Go for it! Both $1 AND $2 coins at once!" While the other side says "Let people get used to the $2 denomination in the more preferred "paper" alternative, at least, at first" As many public opinion polls suggest that, if the $1 note is killed, the general public will turn to the $2 note as its preffered low denomination currency.

No. Loved Reagan very much but each denomination is unnecessary IMHO.

@Avshater22,
No, there are no plans in the works or proposed pictures or sketches.
The closest thing to a new $2 coin prototype, is Daniel Carr's Astronaut $2 coin.
And the closest thing to a $200 bill I've heard, was that the Secret Service and Treasury were talking about the revival of the $500 bill, but that was over a year ago, and I have heard nothing since. And nothing on an actual $200 bill.

No more dead presidents. Maybe some new Liberty and eagle designs.

First Phase - Immediate 1. Kill the one cent coin. 2. Kill the one dollar note. 3. Distribute Federal Reserve hoard of one dollar coins to the banks. 4. Resume production of one dollar coins for circulation. Second Phase - Near Future 1. Kill the five cent coin. 2. Introduce a two dollar coin. 3. Kill the two dollar note. 4. Kill the quarter after Round 1 of the ATB program ends (Round 2 can be NIFC). 5. Introduce a smaller, regular convex polygon, golden half dollar. 6. Replace all effigies with Liberty. The first phase is necessary and no argument will change it. However, the second phase is certainly open to discussion.
