The designs are remarkably similar, down to typeface.

Yep, one dollar and two dollar coins are the way the vast majority of Europe does it; works fine for them. I rather like the idea of the first man on the moon 2 dollar, as it commemorates a unique moment in history.
Ditch the cent? Yep. The nickle and quarter? Not on your life; the vending industry needs them.
$200 bill? Not a chance, nor a five, either.

Really want to make a change? Polymer notes. Much longer longevity and as an added bonus I understand they are a real PITA to counterfeit. Supposedly more sanitary, too.

A very similar subject regarding Reagan on a dime came up in a CCF thread begun back in 2011.

For those of you that failed to read my opinion I expressed my objections to this match-up within the last two comments on this thread's page:

IMHO,

Why even ask this question to numismatists?
Would we "support" something? Silly.

They (govt) have culled our currency down to $100 bills because of the very real threat of counterfeiting.
Even with our bills topped out at $100, counterfeiting is rampant. Why make it even easier for counterfeiters?
Pretty simple stuff, don't you agree?

Speaking as a citizen, I'd love to see currency issued over $100 face value, however I know why that can't happen.

Speaking as a numismatist, instead of posting threads lobbying your political preferences, sure to stir up division and hard feelings, why not post about our hobby instead, bringing us together in happy discussion?

I totally agree and, as a numismatist myself, it is very obvious that the OP does not have any similar interests....more of a never ending posting of the same pie-in-the-sky topic...

BUT.....the board is NOT billed solely as a numismatic board...it is titled
Quote:
US Coins and Currency Discussion Forums
so his discussions are actually appropriate for this board...but there is no reason for the numismatists here to feed into his fantasy world and continue his threads on and on for multiple pages...I think it's called "enabling"

Absolutely no insult intended to the OP....

i personally dont see the US issuing higher coins or bills. I see the US making an announcement giving the population 5-10 years to have all paper money and circulating coins turned into the banks and moving to a digital currency. call me crazy if you like. with debit cards and credit cards all money does these days is travel by 1's and 0's from one account to another.

If you do not like the topic, do not read it, do not post it in. It is that simple. No need to insult the people who actually do want to have the conversation.
