Thanks for the input and all the stories! I also had bought one in late 1991 shortly after it became known that they were scarce, and I didn't expect to find one in circulation.

I bought a mint one a couple of years ago on ebay for $13 including shipping. Could not find one in change.

I received two from my Dad and one I found in 1996 while roll hunting. The other 2 I have are in sets.

I finally remembered to check my stash. I have 14, all found in circulation many years ago.

I've been looking through my change for years, I've never found one. I agree that a well circulated one would be an interesting condition rarity considering the low mintage and the fact that they are being hunted so widely. I'd be willing to bet that the majority of 1991's are being preserved in collections and will remain in MS.

Living in the U. S. it would be highly unusual to find one in circulation; however I did find a 1991 mint set at a small U. S. coin show for $3.00, as part of a 10-set lot - $30.00 for the bunch.
I sold all of the other sets to a person interested in the fifty-cent pieces for four bucks a set and kept the 1991 for myself. It was win-win all around - the dealer unloaded some stale stock, I got a key date set for free and a half dollar collector scored 9 halves for his nickel fifty cent collection.

I never found one but got one in a Colonial Acres sale, which is part of a "Year set club" set.

No, I've never found one. Being in the U.S., I don't get too many Canadian quarters from circulation, but I do get some. I ended up paying $20 at a coin show for my 1991 a couple years ago, so I HOPE I don't ever find one in pocket change now. It would be my bad luck though!

If you find one now you will have two at a cost of $20.25 instead of one for $20.
