I have found only 2 in buying all of my dealers Canadian at face X full exchange rate. Been doing this for a few years. He only searches it for silver so the rest is mine. Best score was 3 1923 small cents and 1 1922. I did go back and let him know the next time I went in - he told me thanks for letting him know and he did not want anything for them.

In 2012, I bought a box of 10 rolls of 1991 25-cents. I sold one roll in a wild no-reserve auction on ebay (sold for more than $350), cracked three rolls to find high grades and to have mint state inventory, and sold the remaining six rolls to a coin dealer in New Brunswick.

I've got a dozen mint rolls from 1992, but, nope, none from 1991.

I've been checking my change for the past 6 yrs for the 1991 quarter but no luck. I did buy 3 uncirculated on ebay 5 years ago and sold one on auction for the same price what I paid for the 3 of them. That's what happens when two people get in a bidding war between each other. Happy Days!

I've never found one in circulation. I bought an MS-65 and had several from sets certified. An MS-67 business strike is on my list of coins that I will buy regardless of cost, if one is ever available at auction.

For the record, I am responsible for probably at least $4.75 worth of them being in circulation; I went to the Winnipeg mint that summer (back when you could actually exchange your change for new coins!) and have at least $5 worth - I can still picture the pile of them... But I was a kid, and I didn't have much money, so I kept only one.
Bummer.

Quote: Grandpapa: I finally remembered to check my stash. I have 14, all found in circulation many years ago. Wow! I know I missed this earlier, but, wow, I just had to comment...

Well, since the topic got bumped back up, I may as well comment. I bought a VF20 from a dealer earlier last year for $3. Wish I kept it now. Would be closest to a "low-ball" I've seen.

I found one in 1993 in circulation. I was working in a video store at the time and made a habit of checking the dates on quarters. I bought it at face value. It was a thrilling find as I was searching for nothing other than a 1991 quarter having heard of the low mintages. I would estimate the grade at xf-au and still have it in my collection. In reading the information in this forum regarding the prices for full rolls having dropped I would suspect that a fairly large number of this issue survived in high grade. It would be interesting to know how many of the original rolls are still out there uncracked. Anyone have an idea how many would have remained in mint state grades? I am curious to hear people's thoughts on this.

I got one in change at a convenience store around the mid 90s. And then not even a week later I got a '64 XWL nickel in my change at a different store.
