1882 Morgan O/S?

It looks like an O/S to me.

The fact that we can see the crossbar so clearly marks this as a later die state (VAM-3). These start out weaker, and as the die ages the older mint mark appears more clearly because more is wearing out on the die. The earlier versions of all 3 O/S varieties are the more valuable and less common.

Your more common version, however, has the distinction of being as strong an example of the type as exists among Morgans. There are few naked-eye Morgan OMMs - the O/CCs come to mind - and this one is probably the most solid steel of them.

Most will (truthfully) advise you that this one only carries a minor premium if any. A market exists, though, because it's possible to assemble a die state set of them. This is a case where a little commonality actually benefits a variety. So when I see a random LDS version go for double grade value it isn't surprising. Just two people who wanted one in the same auction.
