Wise choice @LibertyEagle. And I also think the aftermarket will be flooded with these for a while.

Probably at least 80% went to the dealers and flippers. 20K orders in the first 20 minutes when the listing went to back order, and only about 1,000 orders after that to currently unavailable. The average order size seems to be 5.7 coins, so immediately right there the household limit was way too high, a repeat of the Truman C&C set debacle. I got my single coin starting at 12:01, multiple errors and failure of the drop downs so didn't complete until 12:10. Quite possibly like the BHOF day, so this coin should be easily available at either near issue price or under it for the next few years.

I'm not in a hurry. Either A: This is just the first batch that went unavailable and will go back available or B: A lot of these orders are flippers and will get burned like Kennedy C&C once the initial hoopla dies down. Sit tight.
Only wild card to watch for however is if gold starts to skyrocket.

I bought 3. I intended to buy ten, resell, to pay for the one that I keep.
After watching the buy and sell offers, up to fifteen minutes to T Time, I elected to go with three. Need to for barter when the SLQ and WL come out. :)

the fact that there are only 10 pages on this forum compared to the 40 or 50 pages for each coin and chronicles at a similar time tells me this coin will flop

Exactly machine20, this is gonna be the biggest let down of 2016 and I don't need to call miss cleo to tell me that. Only question is will they learn and reduce the mintage and hh limit on the next 2

Quote: Only question is will they learn and reduce the mintage and hh limit on the next Are these Mint releases really for the average collector, that is someone like me? Or is there some sort of implicit understanding between the Mint and dealers that all available sets will be gobbled up by flippers and the like? I suppose it's a marketing question. Selling out in 15 minutes makes for great headlines, but collectors like me are left out. PS - And what's with dealers paying people to buy 10 sets on their behalf? That doesn't sit well with me.

It is gold. It is not for the average collector.
For what it is worth, I would have been down for a three-coin proof set in silver. Gold is just not something I can handle in my budget, not with the other goals I have.

I got mine right at 12, couple errors with the website though. Can't wait to see it.

Does that mean the US Mint fully expected most orders to be for the house hold limit?

I wasn't planning on getting this Mercury gold dime, I'm saving up for the gold Walking Liberty.

I gotta admit I bought them for the flip so I can buy other coins. Easiest $500 I'll ever make.
