I'd think it would be an eventual buyers market, but maybe I'm underestimated the collectors market

I totally agree with the first part. There had to be a HUGE amount of orders for 10 coins for such a quick sellout and I bet 80% of those 10 orders were from dealers who do not plan on sitting on them hoping the price will rise.

I definitely did not get my "go all in" feeling on this one and passed completely with the main reason being the 125k...not the price

But...time will tell

We think exactly alike on this issue fox. I'll probably get 1 or 2 of the walkers and maybe a 3-coin set when, if, but really when, they do that

3 coin proof set in platinum, followed by silver options in november for christmas gifts once they have drained the big spenders pockets and want to tap the rest of collectors.

I heard of people enlisting their family members to help buy all of the Mercury dimes possible. One person ended up with fifty. Fifty! Now that person is very confident the price will not fall below list. I don't know.

Here's a pic I found that shows the reverse.

Yup, and this is why they sold out...not because there were a lot of collectors buying them but a crapload of speculators and dealers buying bunches.

I will say that I don't see them dropping below issue price but do see them getting close.

Well, yeah, I think they sold out due to speculation and huge interest by dealers, flippers, and short term investors. I dont think we can underestimate the desirability of an "affordable" gold commemorative that is as popular as the Mercury dime.

Well, thank goodness if prices fall close to list, eventually. Then the speculators will have to deal with the hassles and high charges of selling online (PayPal etc). Not too mention the effort and time.

If the sellers are selling below $225 with free shipping then they are taking a loss already.

I got mine today.

The reverse does not have FSB however it is exceptionally nice and I see no reason why it would not grade a 70.

I wouldnt even begin to be able to tell the difference between 69 and 70 in this coin, would be interesting if someone posts high quality pictures explaining the difference.

Pics will not show the difference. After MANY years of submitting coins I can definitely tell when a coin is NOT a 70 grade coin BUT there is no way I can tell which ones will definitely grade 70.

Sounds weird but I can cull out those with even minor imperfections and just send in the "perfect" ones....there will always be some 69's in that "perfect" group and side by side they will look exactly the same as the 70's

Put another way...a pic of a 70 will, most of the time, look like a 70. A pic of a 69 will also look like a 70

Gorgeous coin, but I couldn't tell you whether it'll be a 70. Last year when I finally got two decent Liberty coins to submit for grading (the one's I got before were definitely) not a 70, I couldn't tell you which would grade 69 or 70 or the same. Apparently NGC did and one came back 70 and one came back 69. I still couldn't tell the difference.

What a joke guys. The U.S. mint is better at spin than a politician.

No full bands because today's technology won't allow it. Give me a break!

Not the same diameter because "we wanted to save money" Give me another break!

Nothing but paper pushing excuses!...
