Not sure where Clint is getting that these will be released in December as it shows as TBD in the product schedule on the mint website. A link to the article or news release announcing this would be appreciated.

...does anyone know why they don't mint the dollar coins in silver for those sets? Nickels and pennies too for that matter? I would definitely buy the Native American dollar coins in silver if there was such a thing.
I do not know the specific legal application, but it has to do with the fact that the coins minted in 90% silver for the proof sets were once minted in 90% silver for circulation. Pulling silver from circulation did not necessarily exclude it for collector issues.

The others are not eligible because they were never authorized to use that material. It would require specific legislation to allow it. Just like it took specific legislation to change that 90% silver to 99.9% silver for upcoming issues.

I believe that's a mockup image of the 2016 gold Mercury dime used in the link posted.

Still, something about the gold. I will await photos of the finished product, but at this time I am not expecting to feel any different.

Exactly. It is like I had something else built up in my head and now that it is here it feels anticlimactic.

I think the Walking Liberty and Standing Liberty will be the stars of the show.........Both sides of each of those coins are extremely beautiful! And will most likely look amazing in gold!

I honestly can't wait, my birthday is April 25 so I'm thinking a nice gift to myself . It'll look nice in my Mercury dime set.

Shameless profiteering fantasy pieces created to separate people from dollars. I will not purchase any of them.

The image reminded me of one Merc coin from a circulation set I've bought (worn, goldish)...... I don't know.... we'll see.

Why didn't they do this for 1915 and the last issue of Barbers? The bad rap those coins get really irks me sometimes. Great idea for a set, just too bad they won't do it for all past designs.
