Why didn't they do this for 1915 and the last issue of Barbers?

Because the Mercury dime, Standing Liberty quarter, and Walking Liberty half were the first break from mundane unilateral designs and were true works of art.

I see the Mercury dime is coming out in April but the other two are still TBD. Did they ever announce the mintage for these? I know price will depend on gold spot price but any idea what the premium over spot will be (10%, 20%, etc?)? It's a lot of money for all three but I do like the coins. I want to start selling some things off to afford the set if the mintage is low enough. If mintages are high I will likely pass though. Thanks!

Maybe I missed it, but what I'd really like to have is a restrike of the 1915 Pan Pacific gold coinage, but that anniversary has come and gone. If that one's not to be, how about a new octagonal design? I bet it would be popular.

2 weeks to go until the Mercury dime is released.

Anyone know what the "product limit: none" means since there is a "mintage limit" of 125,000?

Mintage Limit: 125,000
Product Limit: None
Household Order Limit: 10

Any word on the issue price for 1/10 ounce worth of gold?

If it is fairly close to the price of the 1/10th ounce Eagles I might pick up a couple.

There is a presale listed on ebay for $375.25

Hmm 125,000 mintage for a gold coin sounds a little high to me but it's not a market I know much about. I don't know how much upside it will have with that many out there. hopefully the quarter and half have lower mintages. Melt is $125 so maybe $200 will be a realistic price. That $395 price is ridiculous!

Since the dime is only 1/10oz, more people are likely to be able to afford it versus the quarter and half. I'm reluctant to buy the dime because I think they might come out with a three coin set towards the end of the year.

Disappointing that they are smaller than the originals. Reminds me of the mini inflation "coins" you could get for a buck back in the 70's. Not sure I'll buy as the quarter and half will also be smaller than usual. Ughh a good idea gone bad.

If gold stays in the $1200-$1249.99 range, then the 1/10oz gold Mercury dime should cost around $175 (+/- $5) according to the US Mint's pricing grid.

I didn't realize they were smaller than the originals. The dime is already small enough. Even more disappointing the quarter and half aren't standard sizes. Really makes me want to pass but I'm sure if I do the valued will end up skyrocketing!

Current AGE sizes are

1/10 = 16.5mm
1/4 = 22.0mm
1/2 = 27mm
1 oz = 32mm

Dime = 17.9mm
Quarter = 24.9mm
Half = 30.6mm

Had they gone to the pre-33 gold mixture of .900 fine, those coins could've been made in the original sizes. If China's 1/10 gold panda can be made in 18mm in .999 fine, why can't the US Mint? Unimaginative & lazy management team just greedy for collector dollars, and scarcely care about the collector at all. Thinking I'll have to finally wean myself and say no. For the money of the 1/4 tribute I could get a properly graded Type 1 full head in 63 or 64.

I would also have been more likely to buy the set if these 2016 coins were true to the size of their counterparts. It is really disappointing that the mint is so unimaginative (as bizybackson noted). There are mints creating glow-in-the-dark coins and our mint cannot create an almost exact gold replica? Come on, now. 90% coins will sell out just as quickly as .9999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999!!

Oh, they just wanted to use the gold ASE planchets. That's very disappointing. The 2014 gold Kennedy half was the right size.

The 2008 gold buffalo 1/10 oz. planchets were .999 gold...the mintage was around 18k each for the MS and PF

125k just seems high
