Please help, am I missing something? I think the US Mint is currently not sticking to its own pricing grid:
http://news.coinupdate.com/u-s-mint...-gold-coins/
The Mercury dime, albeit sold out, is listed at US$210, but it should be US$200.
Walking Liberty - listed at US$890, but should be US$840.
Standing Liberty - listed at US$472.50, but should be US$447.50.

It looks like someone at the US Mint looked at the wrong bracket - the current prices reflect the $1,250 - $1,299.99 range, but in fact they should have used the $1,150 - $1,199.99 range.

I hope they will adjust prices and provide refunds to those who were overcharged!

BTW, all other gold coins appear to be priced correctly...

I thought of using a few minutes of my lunch break to make the US Mint aware of their pricing error - this is the transcript of the chat I had with one of their representatives:

Chat Transcript
11:31:40 [Kimberly D.] Hello, my name is Kimberly D., thank you for contacting the United States Mint. May I ask with whom I am chatting?
11:31:46 [Visitor] Hi, It's Frank
11:31:55 [Kimberly D.] Hi, Frank! How may I help you today?
11:32:07 [Visitor] I just wanted to make you aware that you are overpricing both liberty gold coins.
11:32:26 [Visitor] They are currently priced as if gold was in the $1250-1299.99 bracket
11:33:59 [Visitor] Please check your pricing grid and you'll see what I mean
11:34:04 [Kimberly D.] I will be happy to help you with our gold pricing! Pricing for precious metal numismatic products (e.g., platinum, 24-k gold, 22-k gold) varies by the average cost of the underlying metal. We use our pricing range table the week prior to sale in order to determine the product's price. If the average weekly price of the precious metal moves up or down into another cost range, the price of the product will also go up or down, respectively, by a fixed amount. Click here for detailed pricing instructions.
11:34:25 [Visitor] Yes, I know, but you are in the wrong bracket for both.
11:34:53 [Kimberly D.] I'm sorry, but this is what we follow for gold pricing.
11:35:32 [Visitor] OK, let me explain the hard way...
11:35:40 [Visitor] https://catalog.usmint.gov/american...oins#start=1
11:36:09 [Visitor] $1510 because the price of gold was in the 1150-1199.99 bracket
11:36:14 [Visitor] That's all correct
11:36:34 [Visitor] Now check this:
11:36:37 [Visitor] https://catalog.usmint.gov/walking-...oins#start=1
11:36:41 [Visitor] and this one:
11:36:47 [Visitor] https://catalog.usmint.gov/standing...d=gold-coins
11:37:02 [Visitor] Both are priced as if gold was in the 1250-1299.99 bracket
11:37:37 [Visitor] currently $890 & $472.50, but they should cost $840 & $447.50
11:37:46 [Kimberly D.] I understand, but theses are our prices.
11:38:15 [Visitor] YOU ARE USING THE WRONG BRACKET TO PRICE THESE TWO COINS
11:38:58 [Kimberly D.] We follow the pricing range table. Would you like to place an order for our gold coins?
11:39:27 [Visitor] No, you do not follow your own table. Please go to the file and compare the prices in the table and on your website.
11:40:25 [Kimberly D.] Is there anything else I can assist you with today?

And this is when I gave up...

You see, this is what happens when you try to be a good citizen.

It's not just you: http://www.coinnews.net/2017/01/04/...-gold-coins/

You explained it clearly; Kimberly just didn't follow up properly. Hope they fix it -- they should also give refunds to anyone who paid the wrong price (but I doubt they will).

I would suggest trying again and asking "tell me about your software problems" this seems to confuse robots. Gotta love the sales pitch at he end. Would you like to pay too much for one of these lovely coins?

Hypothetically speaking, the Mint is an institution that should probably be carpet bombed and the survivors taken out and shot for the good of the nation. I say this hypothetically so no one gets the wrong idea that I actually mean our government is corrupt and should be destroyed. Hypothetically, that would be bad I think. While we are at hypotheticals, lets bomb the Fed as well.

Well, the prices for the Liberty gold coins have now been corrected. And I do hope that those who paid too much will receive a refund, but we obviously have no way of checking.

Buck

I am still angry over Local Coin Dealer trying to steal the Morgans I brought to trade for another coin, so I am mad at the world. We think we have some sort of stable economic system but it is all a sham built on false confidence in a worthless dollar. It will fall like a house of cards, but I hope I am dead and in my grave before it happens.

So I agree the government is corrupt and all, but maybe we don't do that. I think you should just tell your experience with that coin shop on every review site, and maybe file a complaint or two.

I would probably get sued. I know a guy who has a blog for veteran's issues. He said some true but unkind things about "Wounded Warriors Project" like fact the CEO makes $350,000 a year off this charity. He got sued in court and lost. So much for free speech. I am just posting what I believe to be true. I don't have a blog and just engaging in free speech if there is such a thing.

Ok, that's a creeper way to check for a robot and I advise against it.

Edit: Unless the other party initiates the contact unsolicited. In my opinion, etiquette doesn't apply in that case.
