Hmmm, too bad about the PC police. Like the 1911 ONE -> 1 DOLLAR, the change unbalances the design.
The first issue fishscale looks like it was merely scaled up. It's wonderful. The first nickel looks like a redesign.

The fifth coin in the series, The Centennial 5-cent Coin, arrived today. One more to go, then this set will be completed.

Thanks for the great pic shopaholic. What a beautiful coin, easily my pick for best of the series, no matter how nice the Beaver's gonna look. I admit to being bias, the centennial nickel is one of my all time favourite Cdn. coins.

I'm very much enjoying this series. Except for the first nickel, all the coins look like perfectly scaled up replicas of the originals.
WONDERFUL.
I'm surprised more people aren't all over this.

I think the first was very good. The Victory didn't keep the proportions.
Too bad, that the series isn't too popular, collectors didn't clear the shelves....means, like others will be discounted without demand.

Mintage was way to high for these to bring in much demand imo. They are very nice coins though.

Quote: Waiting to see the Beaver Too bad the RCM waited so late to show the last coin, as it now seems sort of out of place to me. Aside from the coins falling out when you move the box around, the only other issue I have is subscribing to a series virtually sight unseen. (ie: holding back on revealing half of the designs) The recent catalog and advertising clearly shows the lack of plating on the obverse of Susana Blunt's effigy of Her Majesty. I find this somewhat disappointing and puzzling but still like the series overall and am proud to own it. Anyone have an idea why this was done deliberately? Why gold plate both sides on all but one coin? They didn't do that with the 5 ounce series.

That sucks......If that's true about the beaver coin having no gold on the queens head, unlike the other coins....makes you wonder what goes through people's minds at times.

Is there a company that will gold gild the head for you? Who does the Burning Maple? I see a $$$ making opportunity for someone out there.

I have not seen an actual photo of this last coin although the catalog and the coin shops all show the same non-plated image of the Queen's head. Do we know this to be the actual case or just an error in the image provided by the RCM? It does seem unusual to change the consistency!
