GOLD HEAD(5Cent Beaver).....This was the only RCM that I planned on buying this year because they are overpriced, however After seeing the beauty of it at the post office today,it was very easy to dish out the $110.00...what a Beautiful coin and yes the Queens head is gold plated!!

Seeing is believing! If it is indeed the case as Whitetail Junkie so nicely pointed out, then why would the Mint unintentionally invite such criticism?
I'm glad to see that there will be uniformity and look forward to receiving the last coin in the series.
Everything up until know has lead me to believe we were getting shortchanged. Nice to have a happy ending.
One of the many benefits of belonging to a community such as this!

Received the last coin in the series a week ago now. Sure enough it was gold plated on both sides. Thank you RCM!

Mine probably arrived to PO (didn't do subscription), will pick up it Monday - Tuesday...
Btw, had a thought, that finishing Nickel sub, the Mint will start the similar with other circulation coins. And why not?

Silveroid, Thought the same...perhaps legacy of the dime and then quarter...and so forth...but not sure if they could come up with six designs of each...like the nickel grouping. Off the top of my head I could see only four for the quarter and only three for the dime...

I received my Beaver coin, completing my set, and they all look fantastic! Assembling the Legacy of the Nickel set has been a great, interesting way to learn about this series: It even makes me want to start collecting Canadian nickels:)

I spoke to a few of the Mint officials who were present at the RCNA Convention in Halifax, expressing my concern that they messed up on their advertising and thanked them for maintaining the consistency of the series. One person seemed quite surprised about it when I told him if the last coin had not arrived the way it did, that I would have returned the entire set. I also suggested they do a better job of showcasing all of the coins in a subscription rather than treating us as suckers who will buy the whole series based on one or two images. Though seemingly interested in my feedback which I know I'm not alone on, I highly doubt much will come of it.

Is paying $500 too much for the set?
