A 1914 Chihuahua 5 centavos with a multitude of die cracks and a Retained Cud. I have 5 examples of this progression, from few to this monster.

Quote: Shattered! I've seen that coin and people asking about the die cracking for alot of times. Is that yours? If so there seemes to be quite a few of those struck with that cracked die (or you posted it alot) and the clash. I wonder if it was purposelesy struck with that cracked die. I sure seem to remember that on that other coin forum down the road a few years ago - if not you then someone else that had the same example - making me think this is a exhibition example and not the real deal!

The shattered die on the civil war token is mine. I have posted it in another thread. These are pretty common. Someone posted another example in this same thread.

It's an authentic Civil War era store card/token. Here's a page from a Whitman book that shows the shattered obverse (O-2): Edited to show that O-2 is the obverse in this image

I looked at my collection, and realized I have three examples of the Civil War Broas Brothers token struck from the shattered die in two different states. I scanned them just now rather than wait to set up my camera:

Here is a photo I took years ago of the earlier state of the shattered-die reverse of the Broas Brothers Civil War store card/token shown at the bottom of my scan of three above:

Quote: OH NO - are we even able to have Civil War coins in our collections without some group protesting? I will assume this was intended to bring some levity to the thread, but I need to say this before it goes off topic... Please do not discuss volatile current events in the numismatic forums!Carry on.

1867 Shield nickels struck from a shattered die in early and late states, with Cuds forming over time. Note the small Cud near the middle of the shield:
