SsuperDdave Moderator United States 23522 Posts	Posted 03/21/2015 7:19 pm Yes, those are both 1917's. 1916's that worn will have almost no curve at all on the bottom. If anything, it's clearer with a lot of wear. Report this Post to the Staff

oih82w8 Pillar of the Community United States 7840 Posts	Posted 03/21/2015 11:20 pm I normally look for the rivet detail in the shield. The 1916 has a very weak rivet detail and the 1917 has a strong detail even in the lowest grades. This image has circulated many times here in the CCF, and I do not know who supplied it first.
