i have this 1886 with what appears to be the re-punched 6 as shown in the 65th ed. charlton pg 317 but unlike the book mine does not look to be obv1a? is this still the same rev? thanks

From memory (and mine is bad as I get older) I think it is a different die, but I would have to go find my obverse 1a examples to be sure.

If I were to happen upon this variety in lets say EF range, what should I pay? I might have the chance but do not want to over pay.

I've never looked at the Obv 2's to see if there is anything like that on the reverse. If I get a chance, I'll look at them at give you a population/percentage of what I have, which is maybe 100 coins.

I have both re-punch 6 on 1a and 2 obverses.
Yours looks like a triple punch to me but I'm not the expert.
I sure love those pennies.
