So I'll bet these are common but, I thought I'd post some pix just the same. This coin exibits no 4th date number, none. Nothing has ever been there; it's not a filled die, just doesn't exist.

Common no?

Some pix:

196*-Lincoln-Cent...

196*-Lincoln-Cent...

196*-Lincoln-Cent...

196*-Lincoln-Cent...

Comments appreciated as well as a possible value...as in " Should I send it in for grading".

regards, mitch

So the die was filled, (one digit that is...) w/ grease? Ok I see.... is it, do these sort of "errors" (kf that's what you call them) have much value?

It's a Grease Fill, and unsurprising the fill is perfect. Chances are all the rest of the grease got squeezed out by 150 tons of striking pressure. And you're right, they're relatively common but pretty interesting all the same.

Looks like 1961 from your first and second picture, with stronger lighting however it disappears. Cool grease coin! : )

It's a Greaser. Looks like a 1963 to me.

John1: Ohh, I see the 3 now too :P

Maybe it will be easier for rynegold to tell the difference, having the actual coin in possession. With some of the major greasers I've seen you will still be able to read details of a very weak strike if looking under the correct light and viewing angle.
