Earle, I used vinegar and course salt in a glass and allowed it to sit for 2 hr intervals. After each soak I gently brushed the coins surfaces with a soft bristle tooth brush. I continued the process for about ten cycles over the next week or so until I reached a point where I was no longer comfortable continuing the restoration. I am very happy with the result :)

Thanks for the info on the restoration - there are rare times something like this is a good thing and its nice to know how to do it.
