Eaglefoot:

I just found out that 65 is very hard to come by. I thought it was the same to you. I live in P state, so 64D is very rare here.

Round 2
Got $160 of halves from my Credit Union today. Results: 4-1964, 29-1965/66/67/68/69, Roll of 1976 Bicentennial, and a bunch of gas money, allowance money and tip money....

That is a good haul Sparhawk!

I worked 2500 dollars this week. I ended up with 4 BEN Franklins, and 5 40% JFKs. It isn't a lot in terms of sheer number, but it is GREAT to get a BEN in a roll, let alone four in 5 boxes.

I will definitely keep trying my luck!

Yinzi50........

Yeah.....actually there may only be a few '65's in there.....and the '64 is hard to find ANYWHERE !......being the only 90% half.
My goal is to get two hundred 40%ers and fifty 90%ers........I know that's a tall order....but I won't sell until then.....if then.....I've never sold a coin in my life......and 30 years from now....I just bet you that Silver will be light years more expensive than it is now......so...
AND it will be impossible to find in "roll hunting" by then.....it'll all be gone in Halves 30 years from now!

Morgantype...........

Great job finding the Bens.....I haven't found any Walkers OR Bens.....yet....

There are some late night banks, the Woodforest banks in Walmart are open 7 days a week, 364 days a year. They're open fairly late to (maybe 24 hours, I'm not sure) The one by by me, will order halves, and usually have a good assortment of other denomination's on hand.

aw man the the closest one of those is 350 miles away. of course my local wally world has a hair cut place, eye doctor, mcdonalds, tire place, portrait studio, but not a bank. although even if the local wal mart had one, I doubt I would go there its always packed and carrying a box of coins in that parking lot is like walking around with a target on your back. that place is dangerous

hahha j-easy. I'm pretty sure that first off, most people wont even know what that box that you are carrying is, and second, I doubt anyone wants loads of nickels, dimes, or whatever.

Just came across this site yesterday and read all 16 pages of this thread. Great information! Wish I had known some of this earlier.

For those ready to give up, I recommend that you persevere. I have been checking banks in my area since January and have found over 500 40% and over 30 90%.

In one town I spent my last 490 dollars and came home with 244 40% and 2 90%, one was a Benjamin. I had to work the next week, so I sent my wife back. She found another 100 40% in the same bank. Across the street, at another bank, they had 140 dollars worth of halves. But, since 5 of the rolls were 20 dollar rolls, the lady opened them and found them all to be Franklins. She would not sell them to us. It is the 'fish that got away' story, but is a reminder that they are still out there.

Today, I searched 1200 dollars worth and found 2 1968's. Yesterday, I searched 800 dollars worth and found 60 40% and 5 90%. Also found my first 1970 and silver 1976. By the way, how can you tell if the 76 is clad or 90%? It is so bright that I can not see a clad line. Anyway, dont give up!
