I've been hunting pennies for a little while now. To give you a sense of how many rolls (bank rolls or customer rolls) I've gone through, I've amassed 8,200+ copper pennies from that effort so far (not counting Canadians or Wheaties). However, I have only found 6 antique (100+ years old as of 2023) pennies altogether. They are, in chronological order: - 1891 Indian Head cent- 1901 Indian Head cent- 1909-P Wheat cent (not VDB) - 1909-P Wheat cent (not VDB) - 1920-P Wheat cent- 1920-P Wheat centI'd have to say that these older ones are really hard to come by, based on these statistics. Is this also what you are seeing in the wild? Cheers! Edited by AllSeasons 01/19/2023 2:42 pm

Thanks! Alternatively, I can wait a few years (or more) for more of my finds to reach 100 years, LOL! I guess in 20 years, even the 40s Wheaties will be antiques.
Cheers!

Personally, I'm glad the CRC urge is well behind me (and I was searching bags back when there were only Wheats and Indians in circulation! to the CCF!

Nice finds All Seasons! To find Victor David Brenner's are always nice to find and in coin rolls no less. I wonder if the roll was salted. A little pet peeve of mine is that they are not usually referred to as "Pennies" in our world...they are "Cents". That little peeve is probably just me! :-)

Thanks! Just found a (pretty slick) 1917-P Wheat cent tonight from customer rolls, my first one from the teens, along with a 1937-S Wheat cent, and a 1967 Canadian Bird Cent. Woohoo!

It occurred to me that it may make sense to post some images of the finds, so here they are. Any insight into grading would also be appreciated. Not expecting much, as these are pretty worn from circulation, but hopefully at least a G4. Here are the coins again, in the order of the images (obverse & reverse). Sorry the image quality is not the best (taken on phone), and the image size limit would only let me upload medium quality photos. - 1891 Indian Head cent- 1901 Indian Head cent- 1909-P Wheat cent (not VDB) - 1909-P Wheat cent (not VDB) - 1917-P Wheat cent- 1920-P Wheat cent- 1920-P Wheat cent

Found another 1920-P Wheat cent from a customer roll tonight. This is my third 1920-P. I guess it's kind of expected when there's 310 million minted. Not complaining, but just wishing for a little more variety, or a mint mark. Sorry for the slightly blurry/gubbed images, as my 2-year-old daughter promptly smeared pear juice all over the flip, while happily saying, "Penny!" That said, I think it was a good call to put it into a flip ASAP :-) Anyway, I now have the following 100+ year old coins from CRH: - 1891 Indian Head cent- 1901 Indian Head cent- 1909-P Wheat cent (not VDB) - 1909-P Wheat cent (not VDB) - 1917-P Wheat cent- 1920-P Wheat cent- 1920-P Wheat cent- 1920-P Wheat cent

Nice, AllSeasons! I've found only one 100+ year old coin in CRH myself: a 1919-P Wheat cent. Quote: A little pet peeve of mine is that they are not usually referred to as "Pennies" in our world...they are "Cents". That little peeve is probably just me! :-) I think I have the opposite pet peeve. It's a US cent, not a British coin! I'll use the word "penny" in colloquial conversation and in expressions that use it - but to say " Wheat penny" or " Indian Head penny" just sounds wrong to me. The coins identify themselves pretty clearly: they're cents!

Someone needs to tell the US Mint... https://www.usmint.gov/coins/coin-m...-coins/pennyhttps://www.usmint.gov/learn/kids/a...e-mint/pennyIf you do not like Penny, you cannot say Nickel.
