The teller should never have shown you the halves if she had no intention of giving them to you. I think it is kind of rude, she says, "sure I have some halves," shows you and then says, "but I'm saving them for someone else." Personally, I'd rather be lied to and told that they have none in stock. Especially, when the teller has silver and they know that is exactly what you are looking for! Good luck on the boxes from BOA, hope you find some keepers.

Man, yeah, that sounds like pretty poor customer service. If you're a member of that bank you should totally complain or something. That's ridiculous.

I had a teller do me that way once. She had $1 in halves sitting in her tray in plain sight. I asked could I buy both. I always buy everything they have. She was like sure you can have this one (non-silver) but not this one. I'm keeping the silver coin. I was like what the hell, then why do you have it in your tray. So I get the 1 half and walk away. Same day I opened a new checking account with the bank next to them. I love the new bank. The head teller and I became friends and she even would call me when got halves, IKEs or anything in. The other bank is still my main checking account but they are also my new dumping ground now. I love when I get the teller that was rude. She asked me one day where I get all the coins and I just replied from all my travels....travels to other banks that is.

It has been several weeks not getting halves and I was needing my "fix", so I stopped at the bank yesterday and the teller had $75- $70 in rolls and $5 loose. There was 1 40% in the loose. The $70 in rolls were largely higher grade halves from the 90s, with a few 80s and 70s.

Key find: after more than 10 years of searching for this, I got my FIRST 1974 D DDO and it is at least an AU, possible MS60.

Hey all-

I went for the cycle this evening. As in baseball cycle.

In one box I picked up a 40% Kennedy, 90% 1964 Kennedy, 1963 Franklin and a 1943-P Walking Liberty. This was a cool box to find, with such a diverse array of coins.

Overall I found: 9 40% 4 90% (1964, 1 Ben and 2 walkers) The best part is that I needed both of the walkers for the book. One was pretty harshly cleaned but it was still a great find. I found the franklin and the walker in the SAME ROLL too, go figure!

I also found some proofs, (85, 99, 81, and 95) and also the all elusive 1987-P.

I must say, it was a pretty good haul given there was a decent balance of proofs, NIFCs and silver. I am happy. I have another order coming in later this week so wish me luck.

Happy hunting to all of you!

You bat a cycle, my team gets thrown a no hitter :( No silver, no NIFC. Guess it had to happen at some point.

Would that happen to be Zambrano's glorious no-hitter against the Astros? Sorry, I just had to mention it!

Frank:
The mint makes a clad proof and a 90% silver proof of the dime, quarter and half that are sold in sets along with the cent, nickel and dollars each year.

Sorry, Eagle. I have a very hard time doing pics because I have a dial-up modem which is very slow for pic uploads or downloads. Our ability to get "real" internet is hampered by us living in the country where service is sporadic to non-existent for wireless.

Morgantype - good work, I love finding boxes like that, it has been some time though. Wish me luck, I have two boxes of halves coming in on Friday and will report any finds back on this site.

Good luck to you SILVER EAGLE.

I also have another shipment coming in either Thurs or Friday. There is also the great Long Beach Expo out here in So-Cal as well.

The way I see it, I will have a coin filled weekend either way!!

Good luck with your boxes, I hope it is all silver!

I was traveling on business in the DC area. Stopped at a bank in Silver Spring and remarkably, they had $140 in halves. Unfortunately they were Fed-wrapped and no silver. But I did get a lot of BU Philly coins that I was missing, because I live in an area of the country where we see mostly Denver. I got 3 1978 in XF-AU condition, which is one of the toughest dates.
