Hey All: While in a bank the other day for halves, the teller says she has $16.00. Emptying the envelope on the counter I see 4 silver ones among the 32 right away. She starts looking over the coins for a minute until I ask; "Is there something wrong", at which she says; "It must be the IKES". She pulls out another envelope with 6 dollar coins, one of them being a Morgan, and says, "I'm keeping that one". I was in such a hurry to make off with the halves, I forgot to ask her if she wanted the IKS's. This was an older lady that should have seen the difference between the Kennedy's. But.........she sure knew her dollar's.

I just found out in my area there is a guy that buys 6 boxes from 5th 3rd bank and another 6 from another bank... WEEKLY. No wonder I have such horrible luck with halves LOL

Quote: Are you guys who report similar outcomes getting Fed rolls, Brinks rolls, or hand rolls? I was wondering if I switched banks and tried Fed rolls if the outcome would be different. I know some of you report great finds in hand rolls but hand rolls in Houston are hard to find and always seem to be dumps... I have even tried small towns 100 miles out that have only one bank... Usually they are kind enough to alert me that the rolls there are dumps. The boxes I order are either Brinks or CWI(the boxes with the peep holes). I have not had good luck with customer wrapped rolls, too many people in my area also searching halves.

Only one of my boxes came in today - but the managers were very apologetic for it, as I drove across the city of LA to get it. They promised to get me some more on Tuesday, which will be fun.
My finds tonight, 4 40%, 1 90% JFK, 1 Bennie 1962, 1 1973 S and a 2005 D NIFC.
I would say this was a fairly well balanced box. Definitely made up for some of my stock market losses from today!!
Good hunting to all of you!

Kloccwork: Yeah; Thinking back on the situation, maybe she wanted me to make an offer on the Morgan; otherwise, why show it to me? Working at a bank does have its advantages if you collect. This teller just happened to know there is a difference between the two coins. A lot of them would not.
That sure is a nice looking '90-S. Looks like it just came out of a set. Happy Hunting!

Did some work at a bank a few days ago and like always, asked if they had any halves.
One girls eyes lit up and she got a really big grin, so I knew she had some that she wanted to get out of her teller safe.
She asked how many I wanted. I said all of them. She started laughing and said that we would need hand trucks to carry them out :)
A guy had come in a few hours before I got there and turned in $4,300 worth of halves!
Yeah, I bought them all.
Each roll was hand rolled, had the date rolled writen on the side (looked like he started rolling in the mid 70's and rolled through the 90's) and each roll was a single date and mint mark, also writen on the outside.
Yeah, I checked them all. The oldest thing I found was 1971.
No silver. No nifc. Just $4,300 worth of circulated halves.
Yes, we did roll the boxes out on hand trucks.
It was still fun though.
