Posted in the roll searching forum...but...since they're halves...LOL

Chaching...I just got lucky. Just came back from the bank, they had 6 rolls of halves I nabbed. In those 6 rolls I got 12 40% and 1 90%!

spotco;

you found someone's dump, unfortunately!

But, I would have done the same thing; bopught them, because you never know.

A bank in my area which always seems to be someone's dump I bought 28 rolls recently and found (can't remember the exact amount, but I'm pretty close) something like 30 40%. I've had terrible luck with boxes lately; but been hitting the jackpot with customer rolls. Guess it depends on where you are! I'd love to be able to get my hands on the coin bags that come out of the counting machines that some banks have. Saw a bank changing a half dollar bag the other day; boy did I want to look at that bag, but the bank associate told me that corporate wouldn't allow it; the bag was off to the Fed

I concur with everyone else, you bought someones dump. But hey, if you had fun, why not. You never know when you will find that one time it is not a dump.

I have never found anything in a customer wrapped roll of halves. Too many halve hunters in my area, they are always someone else's dump.

Then again, I just finished searching the box I bought yesterday, another skunk. That's 2 in a row. A lot of good ordering boxes is doing me...

BofA wants to send my deposit out for "verification" before they will deposit the funds. Jeeze give me a break I have been a customer of theirs for 20 years. I think I will put an extra half in one roll and see if they give me credit for it.

I went through another box yesterday.

1 - 1966
3 - 1967
3 - 1969

I think I am going to try another bank that has a different supplier and see if I have better luck.

spotco - I don't think it will make much difference on the supplier. I find the average box to have about 4-6 silver coins. If I start to hit 8 or more I consider it a great box. My best box has been about 20 or so. The experience I speak from is by gluing through about 30 - 40 boxes since starting crhing.

Good luck!!

After picking up 2 boxes yesterday, I took a quick at the ends of one of them. Twelve were showing silver, which was sure a good sign. Ended up getting:

95--40%
1-1964
1-1963 Ben

The other box isn't showing any silver on the ends, but I'm not complaining. It has been a long dry spell with boxes from banks. Alot of these coins have not been in circulation long. As always, just luck!

Man, I get 2 skunks in a row, and average less than 10 per box and you score 97 of them. What's wrong with this picture...

Sweet score! JFK-Half-Dollar-Roll-Hunters:-Silver,-Proofs-And-Other-Finds

I wouldn't hold your breath on that one. More and more it seems the banks(especially BofA) are looking for any way to screw us out what ever they can when ever they can.

I have stopped using the coin counters because I'm getting tired of getting shorted. I have been counting my coins before I turned them in or used a lobby counter. They are definitely shorting their customers.

Whether it is machine error or deliberate I don't know, but the counts come up short more often than not. That crap starts adding up after a while. When you take it up with the manager they say the machines never make mistakes. So now I roll...

95 40% - that is definitley the dream box.

I made my way through a few boxes this week and did pretty good. I pulled:

40 - 40%
9 - 90% (5 Bennies and 4 Kennedys 1964)

I find it so interesting that I find more Bennies than 1964 JFKs. I know, I know, they were hoarded, over the counter sales etc., it still wows me none the less.

The best part is I have some more boxes under my desk waiting to make it through right now! It is going to be very hard to not go through them this weekend, I am giong to save them until Thursday and go through them with my parents.

Also, on a side note, I was picking them up today, and this teller says, "Yeah, I collect silver coins, and old coins too." She then proceeds to tell me about the Silver Certificates, Red Seal 2 dollars she has pulled. Then, she goes in her drawer and pulls out a 1934 series $100 dollar. I asked her to let me buy it but she turned me down. Then she points to her supervisor and says she collects coins too, so much for loose silver there.

On the upside she did say she would try and find me a $100 of my own, and to "Come back anytime if I want more boxes." - Now gentlemen, that is what I call a relationship to foster.

And on a final note, I wanted to share this image with all of you. You know it is giong to be a good roll when you see this:

Happy Hunting!!
