Have the tellers order them from the fed or whoever suplies them. You should be able to find some silver in a box or two. Good luck!!

Stopped at a local bank on Saturday, where I've luck before. The teller ask around to 3 other ladies for halves. The drive up window had $10 loose. She brought them over saying, 'these look old'. They must have been sitting in a drawer for 40+ years, as they were tarnished.

The first time I went to this bank, she was very happy that I took 13 rolls she had. I was equally happy with the 25 40%'ers.

I love those banks that always seem to have some silver for you. I find it uncanny that the same banks get the silver.
I had some good finds today, 4 40%ers in 120 worth of halves. Also, the other day I got a Bennie, and 2 40%ers in 4.50 at a BofA. Lastly, the coin star today had 2.21 in rejects in the tray. no silver, but it paid for the bag of chips I just bought!!

Morgantype: I know what you mean about the Coin Star machines. I never pass one by without looking in the return tray. Better than looking in a pay phone when I was a kid. Now, try to fine a pay phone!

I got 3 40% and 1 90% from about 150 in rolls from wamu. Unfortunately I found a teller with about 10 dollars worth of silver halves and sheshut me down. I did manage to talk her out of 1 but she had anice stash. The is the third time this has happened to me. What luck, I would rather e ignorant.

Picked up $50 in halves today from a branch I hadn't been to in many months.
Totals: 10 40%, 3 90% (doubles my 90% total for the year!)
I'd like to get to 100 40% by the end of the year all from customer-wrapped rolls. Looks like I'm going to need to go through about $500 more to get there, which will be a challenge for customer-wrapped rolls. -----------------------------
My 2008 totals
4827 coins searched ($2413.50; 2000 coins were from Fed boxes, rest from customer-wrapped rolls) Finds (all from customer-wrapped, none from Fed boxes) 40%- 84 (1.7%) 90%-6 (all JFK) PF silver clad-1 (76S) PF silver-1 (76S) PF clad-1 (96S, 86S) NIFC-0 1974D DDO- 1

Stopped by another branch of my bank. I turn in my $50 in nickels and the teller says "Are you interested in other coins". Of course I say halves. She says, I have $200 in halves a guy just brought in a couple days ago. I figure what the heck. Go out to the car with $50 in halves. I notice that the rolls look older, but think surely these are dumps. Open the first one and get 3 silver. A few more in that first batch and I decide to get the rest. I only had $110 available in my account, so I withdraw that. That left $40 left over, the teller was nice enough to let me search those at the counter, where I get several more silver. I go back out to my car, and after a few more rolls, I open up one to find a full roll of silver, including 3 WLH, a couple of Franklins, a few 64's and the rest pure silver! My find: 1941 WLH 1942D WLH 1945D WLH 1954 Franklin 1960 Franklin AU 1961 Franklin XF 3x 1963 Franklin 1 XF 1 AU 17x 1964 1965 2x 1966 12x 1967 2x 1968D 8x 1969D Total 26 90% 25x 40% plus 4 SBA's I was so excited, my heart was beating sooo fast when I got the full roll. I asked the teller to let me know if the guy brings in anything else. So in the past couple of weeks I got this and almost 2 boxes of wheats! Wish I had more money to do this with. (I had to turn in $110 in halves to my main branch to get the money bank in the account)

Great finds, slackware!
Since I did pretty well earlier, I thought I'd press my luck and got another $44.50 from another branch in customer wrapped and loose halves. This time I was skunked. -----------------------------------------------------------------

I moved through a batch recently:
I pulled 12 40% and 5 90%. Also, a 2008 P which I needed for the Dansco. All in all a good haul, but not as good as the luck I was having!
Happy hunting!

Great find Slackware. Especially the 90%.
I did a little driving the other day. Came up with 26 rolls (loose and rolled). The ones I found were close to home.
44--40% 1987-S with hardly a mark on it.
Going south in a week to Florida and Alabama for Thanksgiving. I've got a couple 'hot spots' along the way that were good to me over the 4th of July this year.
Happy Thanksgiving everyone!
Hey Morgantype: Found a 2006 10 Centavo coin in a Coin Star machine. Think I'll sell it and retire.
