The Jefferson key dates are going to be the 1950-D, 1939-D, and the 1938-S.

Thanks for the info cc2012. Another qurstion, do full steps add a premium only to older years or does it give ANY jeff of any year a premium? What about proofs as well?

Wow, that is a lot of Jefferson albums and folders. The combined set looks good.

I know very little about Modern coins or have little interest in them. The other day when I was watching Heritage live auction, I was shocked to see the prices on some of these moderns. The coins that I would not pay more than say $50 were being hammered at several thousands of dollars.

Quote: The Jefferson key dates are going to be the 1950-D, 1939-D, and the 1938-S. The 1950-D would be classified as a semi key date. I think he meant to say 1939-D and 1939-S as the 1938-S is a common date. The 1942-D ranks with the 1939-S and so the "key" dates would be 1939-D, 1939-S, and 1942-D. The lone semi key date is the 1950-D. It is actually much rarer to find a circulated 1950-D than an uncirculated one as the public learned early enough in the year the Denver Mint production was going to be fairly low so they were hoarded as soon as they became available in the banks.
