Does this mean the coin was graded but has escaped from it's flip pack---and is now free flying?

It probably means that the owner things it's an AU-50 raw.

I think it can mean the following:

- Owner thinks it should be higher
- Owner doesn't like ICCS flips
- Coin might have been given a "details" grade due to cleaning, dipping, etc.

Or it could mean exactly what it says. Seller removes coins to keep in books, maybe hates ICCS plastic maybe as Paulz says owner believes it should have been higher.

Personaly I toss most ICCS flips in a box

Not sure how expensive these coins are but if they are nothing rare than it probably is that. I have a few coins that don't have much value (or that I don't intend to sell) in which I cut out of the ICCS flips just because they are a hassle to deal with.

I have cut even semi expensive coins ( 500 to 1000 ) range out of the flips with no intention of selling them, But then comes a nicer one so what to do with the other coin.

I'm a little perplexed as to why the owner of the coin would even mention that unless the coin doesn't have appeal via online pictures. I don't disagree with the practice of removing coins from holders. Many here do it and if there is no intent to sell, why not. But in the world of online and how most coins will be bought and sold in the future, you will more often than not (not always) take a haircut on the grade when selling.

That person is a member on this forum I think and was here for quite sometime. I wouldnt doubt what he or she states and after viewing the feedback I would not worry to much.

I think the seller mentions ICCS just to get more hits from ebay searches.

Yes they are a member here. I have dealt with them before and all went well, so I wouldn't doubt the x ICCS given grade. But then again, you should buy the coin, not what is stated

I agree with Paulz , one should always view a coin , and based on the nice clear pics there doesn't appear to be anything hiding, like some of the photos we see from sellers on ebay

That's actually a pretty nice coin...

From the photos, looks like a mid-AU PCGS graded...

The other thing you have to remember, it is brutal photographing coins in ICCS flips... I would much rather have the photos of the coin outside of the flip to make the call for myself than through a couple of layers of plastic, especially from a reputable dealer...
