@jack, the "project $xxxk" ones are also pretty big, as well as the "how far back can we go" and "Secret Santa" threads. The "What if they stop minting the 5-oz puck" thread has also evolved into a beast.
@Buckeye - you sly dog, you.

Quote: $155 is the least I can figure for NGC to slab 2 sets with the MARCH OF DIMES SET/ER pedigree (and return the OGP). That's for six coins to be graded ($131 plus shipping)...I don't think it unreasonable. Much cheaper than PCGS but they do not have and special label for these yet...and obviously more expensive than keeping the sets raw... My sets arriving today..

I got my sets yesterday, took a brief look and all except one W dime has a scratch. I am thinking of returning that one set.

@GR58
The mintage info is on the product's page on the Mint website, in small print to the top right (across from the product image). Product limit for the set is 75,000.
As for sales data, officially, that's released each Tuesday at 5 pm EST on the Numismatic Products data page (At the website, go to About -> Production & Sales Figures -> Numismatic Products). Those sales figures are total sales from release to the previous Sunday.
Unofficially, they tally sales everyday for the previous day.

GR58: the recent sales numbers that you referred to were from an article that came out yesterday. (CoinNews.net) Quote: But first in an update, the highly-anticipated March of Dimes Special Silver Set launched on Monday and scored first-day sales of 52,540. Collectors have since grabbed another 11,342 so 63,882, or 85.2%, of the authorized 75,000 have been claimed. We should have an updated total to report on Friday morning. The numbers on the Mint website won't be available until Tuesday

Latest sales data from the U.S. Mint: 66,109 sets sold.
That's an increase of 2,227 sets from the previous, but half the sales volume compared to the past two days sales volume. Certainly a slowdown in sales.

I have called the mint and returned all 5 sets. They reassured me that by being a return for Replacement insured that I would receive replacements as soon as they are available. They say the back order IS around Aug but replacements take priority over back orders so no need to worry about Not receiving them.

When I had to return my 2014 Kennedy silver set I told them I wanted a replacement and they said I had to place a whole new order and that they did not do exchanges, they only gave refunds and it was my responsibility to reorder a replacement (and pay shipping again of course)

So I have some more thoughts: Quote:$155 is the least I can figure for NGC to slab 2 sets with the MARCH OF DIMES SET/ER pedigree (and return the OGP). It's a heck of a gamble for a regular ANA submitter. You can't even open it up to check them out before submitting if you want that label for the dollars too. The posts about people receiving so many defectice sets is discouraging. Sounds like a gamble to mail your sealed sets to a TPG to have some come back as defective. Sounds like the best bet might be selling the box of 2 or 3 or all 5 sets sealed (to qualify for the first strike/early release designation) on ebay for someone else to either open or submit. I guess you risk a return, but couldnt you then turn around a return to the mint? I guess it beats opening the box and realizing you have some rejects to deal with if you just want a quick buck. Sounds like the mint would save a lot of time just doing it right the first time and not having to deal with so many rejects/returns. Ive never returned anything to the mint but my uncirculated MOD dollar I got last month. had some black specks on and it I'm not very happy with it. I'm sure the mint site has this info, but what are the terms of their returns? How long do you have? Do you need anything more than the original packaging? Is there any chance of an exchange? if you only have two sets you like for instance and return three, are you disqualified from ordering more since you already bought five?

Oops! Just realized some of these questions were answered while I was typing that post?
looks like there are two conflicting experiences with exchanges...

I received my five sets today. Three of the five MOD dollars have white hazing on the reverse. It's the exact same pattern, so it almost looks like the die was wiped or something. There is also some hazing on the reverse proof obverses going from Roosevelt's neck to his hear. Again, it's the exact same pattern, so it might be that this die was wiped too.

I talked to 2 people there for about 45 min's and they assured me that seeing it's a replacement there was no need to reorder. Still, my fingers are crossed.
