If someone is looking for a nice 1909, possible "s" penny, here it is....

I'm pretty sure I can see a light "s", but am unsure...

Hopefully someone scoops this up & adds to their collection...

If you do end up buying it & it is an "s", send me a smile!

BTW: this guy has some other nice coins too!

Beautiful strike, but obverse rim damage.

My usual comment: For a coin in that price range and frequently counterfeited, NO SLAB, NO INTEREST.

The non-S VDB isn't counterfeited.

The rim damage is a dealbreaker, though. Otherwise it would instantly have been my first coin purchase in a long time, because after a little conservation it's a slam-dunk 65 and a woody to boot. That guy is on my Recommended Seller list, and is a sharp numismatist. He's pricing it appropriately for the rim damage.

This is what I saw when looking at the actual pic on the ebay website in the largest form....But once again, my mind wants to see something I guess...Did anyone notice a light "0" above & below the original "0" in 1909, or am I seeing things again?

Can't be the MM, so one needs to consider other possibilities. They're strongly-struck with these.

Could be the remnants of someones attempt to glue an "S" to a regular VDB.

If it was a 1909 S VDB, then the S would be far more apparent than what you see.

Unsure if there ever was a "weak s strike" on the 1909 penny, but what I do see is in the right place & proper angle according to the pic below...

May be worth someones' time to grab it & take the chance?

OR might even be a rarer O mint mark but faded due to age of O dies.

IMO, it's an optical illusion. I just tilted my screen forwards and back, now you see something, now you don't. No "S".
