Quote: I get set fatigue trying to fill folders/albums. The Lincoln Cent, Jefferson nickel, Roosevelt dime, Washington quarter, and Kennedy half dollar basic designs will probably not change any time soon and there really should be an end to them they have been in use more than long enough. I just got three "new" obsolete holders today off of ebay, one for gold double eagles for the Liberty, St. Gaudens, and the AGE made for a couple of years in the late 1980's. This one is going to be expensive. One for proof Washington quarters 1936-64. They have not made this for some time. The current one like it is from 1950-64. Then a couple of Bicentennial coinage holders in their original boxes. Their Bicentennial coin holders did not sell well and I thought I would get this pair to go with the pictured above. These were probably out of production by 1980. One each for the proofs and uncirculated 3 piece sets just for the heck of it. I really like the holders which have a lot of text on them and they do very little of that now.

I've been using Capital holders since the 1960's. They use Plexiglas brand plastic and are archival quality. The biggest problem I have heard of is that people seem to think that the plastic screws need to be torqued down tight, which usually breaks the screws. All that is needed is a very light tension to hold the layers together.
At the recent MSNS Conference one dealer had at least 40 holders he was selling cheap, they sure went fast.
btw... Capital no longer provides a box to hold the holder, just a plastic bag, so if you find old boxes from Capital snap them up.

Gyrene I always enjoy seeing all the different holders you have. I would like to get a couple more of these. Looking at the $2.50 gold Indian set, plan on getting it with my next Wizard order. There is a 20th century dollar holder at my LCS, but it has couple screws missing. I could see myself doing one of those Ike's. Here is a Nickel set Posted before .. but here is a dollar holder

This particular holder is no longer in production. GR58 nice sets of nickels and dollars. This nickel and dollar holder is still available. There are a couple more 20th Century type dollars holders also. I just got this non Capital Plastics Liberty Head double eagle holder in the mail yesterday. It is very well made and I like it having all that information stamped into it.

I have a few different ones, I always keep an eye out for them at coin shows in the junk boxes. One I wish I could find cheap was the Morgan dollar CC black holder in the shape of the state of Nevada, that was always my favorite looking holder they made, though I would be expensive to fill it up today! They are on ebay often, but quite expensive (they also come in white): http://www.ebay.com/itm/381242810169 No connection to the auction just posting to show the holder. I do have quite a few 2¢ 2x2 capital plastics holders in various colors.

I have run across Whitman brand plastic holders occasionally as well. The same basic style as Capital but with smaller assembly holes with aluminum fasteners. Here is a Whitman holder I found about a year ago.

Quote: Here is a Whitman holder I found about a year ago. I wondered who made this style of holder. I had four of them for the wartime nickels. Filled one with circulated nickels and sold it cheap at a flea market. Sold two to a full time coin dealer and have one left with a crack on a corner of the back panel across the screw hole I need to super glue. They just do not have the quality look of the Capital Plastics holders, almost dingy looking.

Have you guys tried mounting these to the wall? I think that would be pretty cool for a WWII set of nickels and cents.
