Please help me out with the condition and what is going on with the S in States. Through a loop it looks like a solder drip and looks original to the coin.

Possibly a rusted/damaged die? I don't think it was struck through anything. Let wait to hear from the pros!

Tuff to say from those pics but I'm leaning towards a rock being thrown at it or intentonally scratched with a nail or something more than a Strikethrough error. Crisp magnified pics of that area would help.

Difficult to tell from the photos. I think it is PMD.
