With Gold spot price down, it will be hard for this coin to grow its premium.....

Only 38 have been sold between last week and this week. I'm guessing the final number will be sub 45,000 due to the QC issues with the early coins. Maybe a change to sell out status before Christmas.

With next year gold set release, it may be wise to keep an eye on some of the common annual release..... one will need a $10K coin budget.....lol.

Although I mentioned earlier, I do not buy bullion gold, I took a chance on this coin, $ 1490.00. I received it today, there was a blemish under the olive branch, could not tell if it was on the inside of the holder or not, sending this back. If this coin cannot be graded as a MS70, it is a very high price for an ounce of gold.
Or should I get a replacement, what do you advise?

The coin is now back to "currently unavailable" after going back available a couple weeks ago (assuming because they minted or fixed the final couple thousand out of 50). Probably going to go back and forth a couple times as they deal with returns, etc and will finally be sold out.

Was this coin a special edition design only for 2015? Looking at pop reports it appears there's a decent number of 70s out there but few with the PL designation. Just wondering if it will end up being a key date coin in the future with the low mintage. Anyone here send theirs in for grading? Here's a PL example.. Didn't care for the mockup photos and liked the actual coin even less upon inspection. I'm afraid I hurt my buddy's feelings when he excitedly showed it to me and my unfiltered reply spewed forth as ... "yecchhh"
Out of proportion on both sides and the flag is an impostor.
Add in the high price and I think I could have a lot more numismatic fun with the money.

It looks like at a minimum a 70 is going to cost $1700 in a slab. For that price one can pick up a decent St Gaudens (pre 1920's) in 63/64. What is the better investment? Also any idea which PCGS label is better, the gold foil or the regular blue?

Gold foil has a slight premium over the blue label I believe. But yeah, these coins were a flash in the pan that many did not like. The 2009 HR however was a 21st century st gaudens so that one had all the stars align for it. Hard to say if demand might pick up for these in the next 5-100yrs bit I think they have a high enough mintage to make me think no. Personally, I would go for the pre 20 saint or maybe even.a 70 or even 69 2009 HR over this one any say but if you really want it get a 70 and PL if you can afford it

Thanks Cascade. I was actually surprised at how much more expensive the 2009 is compared to the 2015 coin (cheapest I've seen a 2009 MS 70 is around $2400 while a 2015 MS 70 can be had for like $1700). I understand the 2009 is a classic design but the mintage is 115,000 vs only 50,000 for the 2015. That is why I was thinking the 2015 might be a better investment. I'd have to sell quite a bit to even afford a regular 70.. no way I'd be able to afford a PL! Maybe I will just keep saving and invest in a pre-1920 St Gaudens instead at some point. I just kind of liked the design on the 2015 and thought with a 50,000 mintage it might have some upside. Thanks!
