Cascade, I also like that the quality is a little off on these, it will definitely make high quality examples much more valuable in the future.
On another note, on one order I placed on 7/3 for one of these sets wasn't shipped until 7/13 but it came in yesterday and may be my best RP coin I have out of my 5. So who really knows how shipping order corresponds to quality.

Quote: Personally I think the mints QC guy had the flu or was fired just prior to this production run. Or better yet they just didn't care! I'm hoping that they actually don't have QC, because if someone is in charge of QC, then it's worse than I imagined. Quote: But I like the lack of QC personally as it just adds to the gambling flavor of this experience and the future of the high grade examples. I just hope my other 4 will be 69/70 but again, there in lies more excitement & anticipation! I guess that's a very positive way of looking at things. I've personally determined that I'm the mints QC department. Anything that's not perfect from my point of view goes back. Fortunately, my policy wasn't tested with the five Truman RP's that I received. BTW, take a look at the quality of what the Australian Perth Mint or the British Royal Mint produces. They are putting the US Mint to shame. Cascade, I have to say that coin looks awful. I'm glad that I'm not in the position of having to return it or not.

Bret, the glass must always be half full or life would be lackluster at best or unbearable at worst. There was no question in my mind on returning this set or not. All it means is I have a for sure ogp set now... So I think of it as the mint forcing a diversified truman c&c portfolio on me Life Is Too Short to not find the positive spin on things

The first two pictures I agree look terrible, but the third doesn't portray it too badly in my opinion.

Oh yes, in that case I completely agree. My mistake, I thought you meant how it was see-through, similar to PCGS.

Hey guys I'm thinking about sending in my sets to PCGS for grading. If I buy the gold membership it comes with 4 free grades, which tier do I submit the Truman RP under if I only send in those coins? If its sent in under modern then it seems like your not getting much bang for your buck in relationship to the price of Gold membership. So if I send in 5 coins(all Truman RP) and I buy the gold membership, what tier should I submit, and what will the total cost be including the First Strike and the Gold membership plus 1 extra coin? Thx

That's gonna be alot. and you would NOT have time to use ypur free vouchers on these for FS labels. Pcgs is what around $180 for membership plus your talking $38 per coin ($20 + $18 fir FS label) plus $8 per sub form, plus around $30 for shipping both ways. Now if you wanna save some money you can go to the ANA website and buy a $30 membership which gives you free access to sub to ngc then your cost all in is only $24 per coin plus shipping. It's up to you and your preference and your wallet

So $149 for the membership would get you 4 "free" submissions which really cost you $37 each...add the $18 for FS and it would cost you $55/coin for those "free" submissions ...= $220...add that 5th coin for $33 more
Silver costs $69 plus $33/coin= $201 (4 coins)
NGC...$49 membership...$20/coin for ER Presidential label would be $129 for the 4 coins....(and membership)
Both plus shipping and handling....

Thanks for that info guys, I was assured by PCGS that they would apply the vouchers for me If I did not get them in time. Would I submit as regular or modern? Maybe I'll just take a shot at NGC since its a better perceived value. Then I could send off some modern Kennedy's I've been saving for grading too. Those vouchers sound like a rip-off at the modern tier level. Has NGC graded any 70's yet? Or should I not worry about the ER/FS labels and just go with the standard label? Thx

Sorry I forgot to ask but with NGC's gold level membership for $150 it also comes with a $150 credit, what can I use that with? Would the ER labels still cost extra, or would error coin designations be usable with that credit? If I sent them to NGC what tier and label should I submit as? If I don't use all of the $150 credit at once do I lose the extra? Should I send in 4-5 Trumans and just add some other coins I want graded to make sure I use all the credit? thx
