I agree about the Ike Inaugural Medal. I like it far, far more than the RP. One of my two RPs looks like it MIGHT be PF69 (no way it is a 70 with a couple of divots in the fields). Question: Is TPG for a possible 69 going to add value after all the fees and shipping, will it likely be a wash, or will I be in the hole? If I can't make a substantial premium for the 69 over selling the thing in OGP, I won't bother. I have not done lots of research or the math to go with it, but my gut tells me a 69 would likely be a wash after fees, aggravation, etc. Kevin.

Two coin graded 69 sets have been selling for less than raw sets which really doesn't make sense since all graded coins can become raw again....easily. Three bucks gets you all the capsules back

My guess for that phenomenon is because buying a raw, the buyer figures they can send it in themselves and hope for a MS70 grading. Buying a MS69 set already answers that question. But as you mentioned, they could have already graded 69 and have been recapsuled in their original packaging.

Makes sense. Paying a premium for the potential. Of course, there is also a chance one could crack/reassemble and resubmit, but that may be too much extra work for some.

Well, since I realized the gold liberty coins won't come in time for ER designation themselves, I decided to go ahead and send the Eisenhower out for grading to NGC on their own. First time submitting to NGC so crossing my fingers.

OK, even I am getting a little worried about the drop in price. I thought it would start to rebound by now..

So I have a new "complaint" about the set, specifically the booklet. Not sure why it did not hit me before, but there is no mention of the 1990 Commemorative. My beloved 1971-1978 Eisenhower dollar gets a nod, so does the 2013 Five Star Generals dollar, but not the 1990. Oh, the humanity! Does not really matter. I still love my set!

Both my sets at NGC graded ms69/pf69. So far only 6% of the Truman RPs submitted have graded 70. And from what I've seen, the quality is worse on the Eisenhower issue.
