I cannot believe someone actually bought a "packing error." Wait, it is ebay, of course someone did.

I thought it was kinda fishy it went on backorder having only sold 51k out of the 90k minted. Do they mint these all at once or in separate batches until the final mintage is reached? Quote: they say they only sold but 51k plus and they trying to fix the package problem and they will be back shipping 9/13.

Why would it be fishy, just for the halibut?
I don't think anything is amiss. I'm not sure but I think they do mint them in batches incase only say 50k sold for instance so they don't incur the cost of extras thereby lowering the revenue of a specific offering. The question is, once that lower threshold is met do they mint all the rest or only enough for back orders and to have a limited stock on hand

Think about what happened with the FDR mod sets. They went to back order then it was lifted then back order again. Then, like 2 months later, one last availability. Now it's done... Just me speculating though

So the NGC submission instructions say that the part of the package holding the coin must be intact. Does that mean I just get a pair of scissors and cut the whole flap off? I really want to figure out how to get the coin out without messing up the package. There's so much crud in there, it's hard to figure out what the coin really looks like.

Duh, I just spent 10 minutes with a hair dryer and guitar pick removing the capsule from the package only to realize that the capsule can be opened without removing it.

I did discover that if you are only trying to straighten the coin, you can just rotate the holders and not have to pop the capsule out. I'm sure that's not news to anyone but I thought it was slick.

On my sets, all the capsules weren't even snapped shut. Popped open quite easily. You would not believe how much dirt I got out of there. Couldn't get to the heads side because the coin is pressed in pretty tightly.

Graded 70s are showing up on ebay. I think the 70 pop on these will be much higher than the 2014 coin.

Also saw that a set with bill serial 91149114 sold. Only got $80, but they listed it in the NA dollar category. Bet it would have gone much higher in a currency category. There are only going to be 9 bills like this. Too bad they will skip 91199119.
