Was browsing ebay and saw this.

I'm certainly not going to pay that much money for it, but I do like how the design looks with a significant amount of wear.

This must be a pocket piece, but how long do you all think it took to get like that?

Strong motivation there for putting a roll of ASEs in a rock tumbler with some fine grit and eggs, then submitting them to NGC. Lots of money to be made

I know the "Who" that collects the low grades - but the "Why" eludes me!

I would pay a premium because I like lowballs and it's a peculiar item, but $500 is waaaay too much.

I have a PO-01 candidate 1859-S half.

I have several pocket piece ASE (purchased at shows) that are much lower in grade ... one of which is so worn it's likely FR02 or so ... all kept raw by me as I do not care to chase this set in true lowball state.

Seller IMHO is asking for moon money for a coin with very limited market demand.

It looks like the date wears off rather quickly.

I wonder how low of a grade you can go with an Eagle before it goes dateless.

It's really not "highway robbery" 'cuz you don't have to buy it. The seller is just trolling for idiots and might get a hit. Remember the $2500 routine bullion ASE in the Littleton coin holder? Never sold....even when the price was dropped all the way to $1500

I love lowballs!!! They are very cool...IMO! I have the only one known 1976 D type 1 PCGS AG3 Ike!

Also have a 1935 Canadian Dollar, that is probably PO01!

Pocket Piece "Beat it like you stole it" philosophy.

Since there are die markers on the reverse changeover back in 2008 how many years can you claim almost dateless as long as the last digit is still visible.

If you have a last digit 6 still showing (so as not to confuse it as a pocket piece 2008W reverse of 2007 ultimate pocket piece ASE) and a tailed you it would have to be a 2016 ASE and as long as you sent it to a TPG before whatever date the 2026 bullion or W were released they "should" be obligated to classify it as low as PO1 as long as the 6 and the tailed you were still visible.
