I'm not sure if this a D/S. On the two identified on this site, you can see the crossbar at the top of the mint mark: http://www.ngccoin.com/coin-explore...coinid-13985The two examples may be or may not be the only die examples. I notice on your coin a RPM at the bottom of the mint mark though. (split lower serif) I don't have a book right now that lists more of them at this time. Maybe someone has the Volume 1 Cherry Pickers Guide. There would be possibly more information there? (so keep it safe for now) |

On my crappy phone so not sure how pics are going to come out but these two are mine . They are omm#2 yours may be the same . Will check my reference when I get home . There are five or six of them out there.  |

D/S OMM-2. Probably 10% of the total mintage of 38-D Buffalos has some sort of MM variety of some kind. This coin has always been one of my favorites.... at last count I have way too many 38-D Buffalo nickels. I still add a few rolls each year to the pile. Yes, I am addicted to them. |

Coop, the images on the ngc site are both die#1. One is early and the other a later die state. Die #1 is the only one of the six OMM's known for 1938 that shows the S above the D.
