Quote: This cash coin is 1 cash Guangxu / Kwangtung Thank you very much! I hadn't seen a similar coin that size and all so I assumed it wasn't real. Now I know otherwise And thank you all for your lovely comments! Really sets the mood Yes, UltraRant, it is very weather dependant. Despite that, I went there once during heavy snowfall. Only a few sellers were brave enough to set up, but surprisingly enough one had coins and I found a 1911 Canadian 5c there aswell. I wasn't alone looking either.

Today's market experience was interesting. The weather was actually quite terrible, rain and around 8 degrees. I was actually considering not going at all, but it was just drizzling when I finally got out. The market consisted of a few sellers and few shoppers. I was about to check out the last couple of tables for coins and this one seller recognized me, stopped me and showed me some new coins he'd brought along on this rainy day. 20 coins for 40 SEK were these: 1 Cent, Singapore 200 2 Zlote, Poland 2010 1 Grinvya, Ukraine 2002 1 Lira, Turkey 2012 50 Pesos, Chile 1989 ˝ Frank, Switzerland 1988 1 Frank, Switzerland 1995 50 Cents, Hong Kong 1998 5 Dollars, Hong Kong 1998 10 Dollars, Hong Kong 1995 5 Nuevos Pesos, Uruguay 1980 10 Nuevos Pesos, Uruguay 1981, 1989 (x2) 100 Yen, Japan 500 Yen, Japan 1 Lats, Latvia 1992 2 Lati, Latvia 2009 50 Krónur, Iceland 1987 100 Krónur, Iceland 1995 No silver but a hole filled in my world coin album, along with some upgrades! A surprisingly nice day for sure

It is a good thing you went. Filled holes always make the trip worthwhile.

That's a good 500 yen from Heisei's first year (1989). Some other good high face value coins in there, too!

Not as much today, although the weather was better there weren't many sellers with bargain prices today. Anyway, these were today's finds: 1 Peso, Chile 1989 50 Santims, Latvia 2007 10 Cents, Hong Kong 1997 20 Cents, Hong Kong 1991 2 Dollars, Hong Kong 1997 This seller also sold banknotes: 100 Pounds, Syria series 2009 200 Pounds, Syria series 2009 Apparently these notes were designed by the same person who designed the first series Euro banknotes as well as the current Azerbaijani series. These notes from war-torn Syria hold little value, I think around $0.40 total. Today's little adventure cost 30 SEK.

This is one reason to not hate Mondays. A smaller mix, but still nice. I like the scalloped coins, they are different. Round but not round.

Looks like I'll be on a business trip to Stockholm again soon, but it will be in the middle of the week. Just to confirm: there's only a market on Sundays on Hötorget or is there also activity in the middle of the week? It would just be to plan a long lunch break or so for me to get there. :)

Monday to Saturday is only "normal" market activity - mostly a farmer's market (vegetables, berries, fruits, all that stuff) but there are also some phone case and wallet and flower vendors. Nothing exciting, really. Sundays are the day to go.

It's a shame I didn't know about that sunday market when I was in Stockholm the last time. :(

Thanks. I'll pass, then, as I'm not interested in silverskin onions and golden vegetable rice.

I can do without pickled onions. I will stick with the coins.

Kind of forgot to say this yesterday, but no new finds yesterday (evidently) There were coins and notes for sale, but those were either overpriced or things I already have. I guess my success rate has made me too picky.
