I received two new Alexius I Comnenus trachy coins yesterday,

Two-Alexius-Trachys
Alexius I Comnenus. 1081-1118. BI Aspron Trachy (2.52g 22-24mm). Constantinople mint. Struck 1092/3-1118. Christ Pantokrator enthroned facing / Crowned facing bust of Alexius, holding cruciform scepter and globus cruciger. DOC 25b; CLBC 2.3.3; SB 1918.

Two-Alexius-Trachys

Alexius I Comnenus Billon Aspron Trachy Nomisma. Constantinople, AD 1092-1118. Bust of Christ facing / Bust of emperor facing. DOC 26; Sear 1919. 2,87 gr 31 mm

and I got this second one because I thought it looked pretty interesting plus no one bid against me on ebay and I got it for 0.99 Euros
I think this one is Sear 1919?

I only found one other example on ACsearch(+2 which were miss-attributed as Sear 1919) + CNG archives compared to 36 examples of the first coin. (the one coin went unsold for 25 GBP)

Alexios I
-Born in 1056
revolted against Nikephoros III Botaneiates and became Emperor
-Stopped a Norman Invasion in the Balkans ( partially by bribing the Holy Roman Emperor Henry IV with 360,000 gold)
-Defeated an invasion of 80,000 Pechenegs by allying with 40,000 Cumans (whom he offered gold)
-Reformed Byzantine Coinage
-His letters to the Pope influenced the First Crusade
- retook some land that had been lost to the Seljuks
- began the Komnenian Restoration
-Died in 1118
-after he died his Daughter wrote a book about him called the Alexiad
- Every Byzantine Emperor to reign after Alexius was related to him

My favorite Byzantine coin type, The second example is a bit rough but it's nice to have two different designs of the same coin. Can't beat the price.
