I saw this coin last Thursday, had to pick it up. It was face value. And it does look much better in hand.   Then Friday I was at a local flea market, talking about Ike's, and the vendor ask if I wanted this one.   What are the chances of that ...  |

Any background on what the counterstamps mean? Looks like years of military service.

I have not done any research on these ...
To me the dates are 50 years from start of WWII 1941 - 1991
and 40 years for the end of WWII 1945 - 1985.
Of course 5 stars for Ike, 5 star general.
These should go well with my small, but growing counter stamp collection.

This is akin to the gold-clad Kennedys I used to find in circulation. They were counter-stamped with either the 20th anniversary of his inauguration (1961-1981) or his assassination (1963-1983).

Nice! Now I need to go dig up that gold plated Kennedy I got from the bank a few months ago and look for a counterstamp!
