An update from the Mint on the JFK C&C sets (via email):
The Mint sold 25,000 sets via its website in the first 10 minutes of sales which began at 12 noon, Eastern Time. Of those orders, approximately 78% were via desktop computers, 16% via the Mint's new mobile app and 6% via social media. All of the Mint's systems performed as expected. After the first hour, sales totaled over 40,000 units. The Mint will begin shipping the first 25,000 sets from its fulfillment center immediately and anticipates all customer orders will be fulfilled by early October. The Mint continues to closely monitor sales of the product

6% via social media?
Is the mint selling sets on facebook or something?
That is interesting info though. 40,000 sets in the first hour....

Seems sets are also starting to sell on ebay in the $90-100 range. Was just able to sell my extra to the HSN guy for $95. Not too big into the profits game just wanted enough to at least make most of the one I keep paid for. So approx. $30 for one set? I aint even mad just glad it was able to sell because who knows what they will be at soon. Probably higher but oh well not a huge deal.

I bought via mobile over the carrier network. It took about 10 attempts and it kept making me enter my address and cc even though it should have been saved. I started at 12:00 and finally got through at 12:10. Confirmation email didn't come until like 2:30.

Atlas is our mint newsboy I think my sentiment of feeling obligation rather than excitement with these is also felt by others which is contributing to the snail pace to the finish line. Again though, as with the last 2, how THIS set performs during Christmas and after will be still be interesting

And fyi, on one account with 2 orders, ive been charged the $120 for the first one but I have a seperate charge of $4.99 (shipping price only) for the second order. So are they telling me they cancelled the second but will still charge me to ship them?

Thank you Atlas.
I guess I wasnt too far off awhile ago when I guessed 5000 sets left.
It sounds like a better mintage for this set would have been 40K. It would have been a sort of fast sell out, but not super fast. But with only 5500 sets left, possibly a sell out in a day or so.
I think the sets going on back order had a bit to do with the slowdown in sales as well.

One way I am looking at this mintage is that it is the same as the 2014 Coin and Currency sets currently selling in the 3X price of mint issue price range.
