I found 236 40%ers in one $500 box in Oct last year and numerous boxes with 70, 110, 35...., one had a whole roll worth of BU 63D's. That was a phenominal month, a guy I know 100 miles away was getting the same kind of boxes as ME only his Ben box had 2 rolls worth and a roll worth of Walkers. Here's a pic of 236 halves. HH all, Mark and here's a blurry pic of 16 silvers in one roll.

There are a few theories, well two as to why we hit them boxes. The other guy was convinced that someone jumped a huge hoard and they got rolled up and shipped out. My theory is that we were getting deeper into the pallets. See there was a local college that was buying $3500 a week in halves to give out as change at football games and I believe that helped us get down to the good stuff. That is why I keep ordering as many boxes as I can afford trying to get back down there. The other part of my theory is that they don't roll halves every day, consider all the dumps get stockpiled till they have enough to roll and box- I believe that happened late in November and what we have been finding here now is what few silvers people ran through coin counters that got mixed with all the dumps. Question is can we order enough boxes to get to get back to the good stuff before the dumps get rolled again- I hope so. It is a truly awesome sight to open a box and see lots of silvers on the ends- I took pics of that too but can't really tell that well except the Ben, thats right there was one Ben in that box too. Here's that pic, see if you can count the silver ends. HH Mark

I have been to approximately 50 local banks in the area asking for rolls of halves. I have searched through several thousand dollars of hand rolled coins and my first day got lucky and found a full roll of silver with 8 Franklins and 12 1964 Kennedys. Obviously, a this moment I caught the bug and have gone to almost every single bank in this city searching rolls of halves. I have ordered $1000 worth from my bank once and found 0 90% silver coins and around 30 40% coins. I also have an order for $2000 more this week and hope that my luck will improve. I have not been keeping track of my finds like other members of this forum have, and wish that I would have now. My significant finds have only come from hand rolls at the banks, not bank rolls. However, after reading some posts, my hope grows as I see Franklins in bank rolls in ME CO's posts. I have a couple questions that I would like your opinion on:
Is there one main Federal Reserve that holds all of the coin, then ships it out to banks? Or, are there smaller branches of the Federal Reserve that have banks assigned to certain districts or areas?
The reason I am asking this is because I wonder if we are all fishing out of the same large pond, or if my pond is drying up while there are still plenty of coins to be found in other ponds.

How do you order boxes of halves? Can I just got to a bank and ask them to order them for me or what? Please let me know. I am very interested in trying this. Thanks

I saw a post once somewhere else that showed a map of the districts, maybe a google search will help (please post if you find it- I'm too lazy to search). East has small districts, west has huge districts. There would have to be branches of the FED out west as the districts cover huge areas (more than one state each). That is my opinion anyways. I know for my district the main is in another state but I have bought coin counter bags and they're supposed destination is in my state. HH Mark

I live in delaware. Can I just go to my local bank though and tell them I want 100 dollars in halves? Or will they have to order them or what?

I just asked the teller one day if I could order some rolls of halves. she said yes at no charge, but they had to be in denominations of $1000. so I placed an order, 3 days later I went to pick them up (two boxes of $500). I brought them back in a bag, unrolled and loose, in the amount of $1000 to be sent back to the reserve. I assume that if we are all acquiring rolls from different FED branches that some are more likely to have greater success than others based on location.

I think the ones of us that are around the same area need to order halves all at the same time, thus making a dent in that pile they have at the reserve.

$1,000.00 is a lot of money to come up with for me even if I'm taking it back in a couple of days...... tight times here in the Winter in the Construction Biz ! So, I will just hit different banks for awhile until I've exhausted everyones supply........then maybe i'll consider ordering boxes........ My 90% silver has been very very good with what I'm doing so far. When I can't find anymore or am not finding silver in what I do look through.....I'm ordering boxes
