Took a bit of a gamble with this one: http://www.ebay.com/itm/317-COINS-M...0152?txnId=0I count 5 Japanese and Chinese silver dollars, which I am going to assume are counterfeit until I get them in hand. Given the difference in color, I am going to say these are at least silver plated, hopefully solid silver. But hey, that's what magnets and jewelery scales are for. But, this all works out to be 17 cents per coin, and the Roman sestertii should act as some hedge against being completely ripped off. Wish me luck! We will see in about a week.

I miss this thread... http://www.ebay.com/itm/World-coins...5641?txnId=0Philadelphia struck all of Panama's coins including the proof sets until the 1980s. This lends a little popularity to those issues, since such a small country seldom needed more than a million coins per year. The 1967 proof set had a mintage of just under 20,000, and best thing of all... the Balboa is struck to US dollar standards on a .900 silver planchet! The Medio Balboas were made on 40% silver planchets I think until the mid 70s.

How do you find these? Every time I try to look for lots of old Chinese coins, it's either good stuff for crazy prices, or piles of Qianlong and fantasy junk.

Sometimes I honestly have to wonder at the meaning of "worth" for many of the coins I buy. For example: http://www.ebay.com/itm/JAPAN-SILVE...=WON&trxId=0That's a reasonably rare variety of 1871 50 sen; NGC catalogues at about $100+ in that grade. Zero competition for it. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Japanese-Si...431249208006The issues Taisho 3 and 4 are worth $30 each, minimum ($100 ish if these are genuinely BU and not cleaned). Was able to get $9 off (basically one for free) through sending a best offer. I will someday need to sell off my numerous duplicates obtained through bargain hunting, but I fear that karma may catch up to me.

Great idea! Here's a current BIN (Buy It Now) for a Lincoln Cent, 1938-S MS66 RD for $30: http://www.ebay.com/itm/1938-S-PCGS...142066635993NumisMedia FMV = $45 Whitman Red Book = $45 PCGS Price Guide = $55 NGC Price Guide = $65 - Mark P.S. I have purchased from this seller before, and they always deliver coins fast, well-packaged, and they will combine postage costs even if you don't ask (if you buy two or more coins on the same day, for example).
