SOLD:Although I can not release the realized price, I can say that the people saying it would not realize any where near the asking price were incorrect. BUT! As I said before, it was about the coin to me, not the value(although I was impressed by the value). It kind of hurts to know that I will likely never see or hold the coin again but I am soooo thankful to have been part of the journey!

It's how often they hit the market and what one is willing to pay in the end.
I've overpaid for coins many times simply because I wanted them.

Asking 20K, but took a best offer outside ebay after less than one day on the market?
Very odd thread.

It's the usual case of value vs. patience. Vermontensium nailed it; people will pay a lot higher prices for material such as this coin which is not often up for sale.

I wouldn't have a hard time believing that someone working on a Registry set or a CC gold set would cough up 40% over list for a coin that they've been waiting on for months or years. If they miss this one, when's the next one going to finally show up?

Besides, when you're buying $20k coins, you're not likely in a financial position where overpaying by a couple thousand bucks is going to be any significant inconvenience.
