If you go to the Federal reserve bank websites and surf deep into the "banking institution how to sections" you can find deep in the monotonous regulatory jibber jabber the requirements for "special orders" there is an actual form to request coinage...it does not specify Ike dollars however there is an area on the form for special orders. I called the Federal reserve in KC MO. apparently they assumed I was a financial institution ? They didn't ask and I didn't elaborate...anyways this is the facts: can customers put in special requests? under "ordering of coinage" I was told the form has to be correctly submitted and would be reviewed, I asked specifically if large Isenhower Clad $1,000 bags could be ordered? again I was advised the request would be reviewed. That was it, I thanked them and went to my bank with a copy of the coinage order regs. and their response was surprise, followed quickly by a frown from the head teller. No, she said our policy is we don't request $1,000 bags from the KC MO fed, I asked let's do it come on it would be cool ( they know I coin collect and buy bricks) she dug in and broke it down to me 1. We never done it and don't know how 2. Loomis provides their boxes and Ike dollars ain't on the list and 3. They are busy have dozens of things that take priority and she doubted her manager would entertain the task. At least she levels with me. I know for a fact certain people with the knowledge of the procedure have and occasionally do order these, I know for a fact the KC MO fed has pallets of these sitting and though not illegal you need to know someone who knows someone and you can get your hands on these. I have been unsuccessful as without your bank management fighting for you it isn't happening. This is not a tall tale, if bored go to your regional Fed Reserve websites and its open to the public, you gotta dig though. 1000 clad hockey's bah! after I searched them for varieties I would saturate the town with these hockey's on gas, chew, and sodapop.

@7101999 I know the head teller. This is how I get Ikes from time to time. She told me after this last order of $1K she'll try again in a couple months...Takes time for Ikes to accumulate at the coin vault

Thank you for the warm welcome! Good to have some connections eh? I've been digging around at multiple branches and they all say they cant "specify" what dollar coins they order so I always end up with the small gold ones, ive heard on other forums that you have to inform them they must call their carrier to specifically order them, so far havent had any luck. if you could give some insight into however the process seems to work it'd be much appreciated!

2018 was my last attempt its been almost 4 years so have no idea what scroll down menu to search or if the site has changed? I do know it would be great if the treasury would auction bags or boxes of these. They would save 2 x by not melting and probably fetch 2 x face by bidders. The difference between the treasury standard thought and mine are 180 degrees off so I won't hold my breath. Heck I wouldn't doubt if millions haven't already been melted - treasury doesn't need congress to recycle.

My closest bank had 1547 Eisenhower dollars and they said a nearby branch had 600 more. They let me buy them all. I had only come across about 40 in the last 20 years before this so it was fun to search something different! I found a 1973d NIFC. I found a counterstamped "BIKE" dollar which as a biker is definitely a keeper. And I found one with a rim Cud. It's a minor error but I think it's really cool on an Ike.
