jjwabraham Valued Member United States 288 Posts	Posted 10/02/2015 6:14 pm I found a Barber quarter that was toned like that in what was supposed to be an empty Whitman folder. It is so grey that you could barely notice that there was a coin in the hole. So maybe spending several years in one of them causes that sort of toning. Even so, it wasn't bad for 50 cents. sel_69l Bedrock of the Community Australia 21788 Posts	Posted 10/02/2015 6:25 pm If the coin is genuine, which I think it is, (can be weighed and tested with comparative ring tone) then the detail would be consistent with extensive circulation wear and exposure to an agressive environment. I have spent years trolling through dealer's junk boxes, and occasionally I see coins that turn up with a similar appearance to this one. Report this Post to the Staff
