Noodled $150 of 50¢ today. Got my first 2000 royal visit, 4 different COF QLD, NSW, ACT SA, 1 1970 Cook, a stack of regular millennium etc. No 2007.

This lot really set my allergies off. I could just smell the metal and my fingers were pretty grubby. Hope I'm not allergic to the nickel in these coins. I ended up sorting through them with latex gloves on. That's all I need, to be allergic to coins!

Sometimes when I'm noodling, the coins reek of nicotine. Makes me feel ill & I'm an ex-smoker.

Lucky I'm not a hypochondriac. I imagine these coins have been handled by millions of people without washing their hands first. Some of these coins are a bit icky. Mmm, it might be a good idea to get a few pairs of cotton gloves for sorting with.

I'm not worried about getting my hands dirty but it is amazing how dirty they get handling coins. And, how much unidentifiable gunk you find stuck on some coins.
I always wash hands after sorting. If you don't then better not touch anything white around your house -you will leave horrible, grubby fingermarks!

If you are getting 2008 20¢ already then me thinks there will be plenty more to come.

6 monthly figures for 2008 circulation coins won't be available for ages, some time after June, maybe as late as November.

My finds this week:
50¢
1 x 1970
1 x 1974 aEF
1 x 1988
1 x 1994
4 x 2000
7 x 2007

20¢
2 x Bradman
1 x 2003
1 x Norfolk Island

Other
1 x Fiji 50¢
3 x NZ 20¢
1 x US Colorado 25¢

One thing I've noticed is the ratio of 50¢ Commems to COA has dropped dramatically. For me it used to be around 20% Commems, now I'd estimate it's down to about 10%.

I havent noodled much in the last week... :( Just the odd $100 here and there... Picked out 6x 20c CoF states (Tas, NSW, NT, WA and SAx2), 3x 2001 Bradmans, 2x 1995 UN and 3x 2003 Volunteers and a very nice 1974; 5x $1 2001 Volunteers, 2x 2000 MoR (both were pretty trashed), 1x aUNC 2005 'Mule' (hahahahahaa); an couple of 50c CoF states, but not much else...

What I did SCORE was a 1988 Proof $1 for $2.45 (amongst some other stuff I bought online). That I was happy with, especially seeing as It showed up in the post a mere 4 days later! Earlier than stuff I bought LAST week, that hasnt shown up yet...

BTW, does anyone else here buy thru Downies? Does the Turn-around time there SUCK or what? I thought i'd buy some stuff from them, just to test them out, and thus far, its been 5 weeks!! All its doing is re-enforcing my decision to support my Local coin shops - Bigfella and the guy at Maitland Coins. And of course ebay for a bargain or two!

Downies have been very slow lately for some reason. Local coin shop is best for new RAM releases.
