Nice find, mangemesjambes. I forgot about this thread. I honestly thought it might be more popular that it is.

Yes, today is 1955, not 1956.

Technically - today is 1956 unless we made a rolling change. I had loaded up the second round of '56 pics but took a call before hitting submit. The 1955 entry came in between. Did we make a change? I'd have to go back and read. As a matter of fact, it doesn't matter to me how we do it. I thought the aim was to allow someone with a date/pic the opportunity to post. I'm good either way.

My Mistake. For some reason I thought the other 1956 coins were posted yesterday. I told you I forgot about this thread. mangemesjambes, your image has been removed and you can post it again tomorrow.

I'm with you though - I thought this thread would be more popular. I don't mind posting my finds, but I'd rather post additional coins for a date most of the time and occasionally post a coin to keep the ticker moving. I'm really curious to see how far back we can move the date. I suspect that unless there's a significant shift (e.g. large cent/small cent) we could collectively get to a rather early date. So I'm hoping that we catch fire a bit and start through these easier dates to see what gems folks have uncovered sifting rolls of coins.

Nice, wish I had a 1955 double die like that. I can probably get us into the 1930s, all of my Roosie dimes were found from pocket change. Same with Washington quarters, well, except for the two 1932 key dates.

Mountainman 2, when did you find that? It would still be a great find even if you got it in the fifties, but to find that today would be incredible.

Good question Numisma. Is there hope for us yet?

If it was a recent find, wow! If not, a quick reminder of this thread's mission (emphasis is mine)... Quote: All coins *must* have been recovered from circulation. Change, bank rolls, or any other method of circulation--the coin must have been acquired for face value, or for the cost of a coin it is replacing in a roll (in the case of foreign coins).
No cheating--don't post coins that were deliberately seeded into circulation, and don't post coins that were pulled from circulation as current issues (before 1965). Let's try to keep this thread to coins pulled from circulation after the year 2000.

That '55 DDO is incredible! I have never heard of one being found in circulation since they were first released. As for this thread, I am curious to see how smoothly we make it through the Depression years--I'm not sure I have ever found a 1933, 32, 22, or 21 coin in circulation.
