It will get more challenging. A good number of my early dates come from paper route finds and CRH in the late 70s. Not sure on all those dates but most anyway.

Hah, just noticed this thread. Been saving every Wheat, pre-1965 everything else, since the 80s. I could post almost uninterrupted from 1955 to 1893 -- the farthest I can go back to, with an IHC that I got in change, just in one cent coins. I'll try to find something interesting to put up as we go.

It was found in a MRW about 3 1/2 years ago. I posted it then in the US Modern Variety and Error Coin section. It took about an hour for me to calm down

Thank you for re-postng, mangemesjambes. Quote: It was found in a MRW about 3 1/2 years ago. I posted it then in the US Modern Variety and Error Coin section. It took about an hour for me to calm down I should have remembered this! https://goccf.com/t/122708

Quote: No cheating--don't post coins that were deliberately seeded into circulation, and don't post coins that were pulled from circulation as current issues (before 1965). Let's try to keep this thread to coins pulled from circulation after the year 2000. I must have missed the year 2000 cut off date rule. Well, I have a lot of coins pulled from change back in the 1970s and 1980s. Guess that leaves a lot of my stash off the table.

Well, it does say to try. Shut up, Yoda, I know "there is no try!" I say yours should be okay as long as you are up-front about it. Finn235 needs to make that call though.

Key word is try. With that in mind I will defer to fellow enthusiasts the opportunity to post first. I'm content to post when we stall or as a second post for the date. And I encourage folks to post the date. The more fun finds the better from my perspective.
Mountainman - I'd be shaking with that find! Just terrific!
Mange - that's one frosty '55!

As we get further and further back, I say we can become more lenient with the post 2000 cutoff. What I was trying to avoid was "Here is a BU 1899 nickel that my grandfather pulled from circulation in 1901." An 1899 found in 1975 absolutely counts, however. 2000 just seemed like a good cutoff at the time when I was creating this thread.

Australia is just about out. :(. Decimal only go down to 1966, so we would need to be in a different country or have been collecting for a really long time to get one in.

Right thinking Finn. Honest finds add to the excitement.
Yinzi - your version of '55 doubling? Nice Franklin finds!
Dan - sorry about the limitations. Hopefully this thread is still entertaining enough.
