Quote: As for the pcgs/ngc question, I have no intentions of selling it and just wanted to ensure it was authentic. I figured ANACs would be the cheapest and I would know for sure. All right. Incredible buy, though! I wish I was that lucky. As for the rest of you- I'm seeing some amazing coins coming up on this thread. Nice!

I forgot about the five 20th Anniversary ASE sets. That was a good day. Five sets - $1500 Sold four sets $2900 Still have one set. Not wanting to brag ... just show what can be done. When I show my wife what profits can be made, she has less problems with making bigger purchases.

Most spent on a single coin? $750 on a 1793 large cent.

I spent $1300 on a 1923-S Standing Liberty quarter in EF condition. I lack only three coins to complete that set, so when I have a chance to buy a coin I need I feel compelled to buy it. I like a challenge and the SLQ is a challenging coin to collect for average collector. I see that Quarter Eagle at the beginning of this thread. That is a coin I would like to collect along with its bigger brother the Half Eagle Indian Head. Those two coins are so iconic I just crave them.

This 1895 S AU55 is the first expensive coin that I purchased. I got caught up in an online bidding war and I over paid about $300. I really like the coin because of the PL qualities and strike, but the coin does not have the PL tag. I had a little bit of buyers remorse for a while because I could of almost got a AU58 for what I paid.

Quote: I would say that a MS Indian quarter eagle at 16 years old was a very smart buy. I wish I would have had silver and gold on my mind at 16 years old!. I probably would have never started collecting if it hadn't been for my father. Ignoring the fact that I've already surpassed his collection as of now at the age of 17, I would have no idea about the virtues of collecting at my age. Quote: Maybe I can try and beat you before I turn 16 in 9 months. It was about the middle of last year, and it cost around 350. Good luck beating my next target though. I've got my sights set on an AU draped bust Half Cent

The most expensive coin I ever purchased was the 1909 S VDB. Boring, I know, but I just wanted to have that complete set so bad...took a long time to make the plunge.

NGC MS65 1908 No Motto St. Gaudens is the most I've ever spent on a coin. Second place is the 2013 ASE Set.

My most expensive to date is a G-4 1916 D Mercury dime in a PCGS holder. Right behind that in price were both 1942/41 dimes.
