Lots of neat coins! The Bahawalpur 1/2 Pice is in beautiful condition! Nice luster. (The stamps of the former Princely State are well worth collecting). A few of mine: From the princely state of Cutch, in Gujarat, minted during the reign of Bharmaliji II (1814-1819) in the name of Mughal emperor Akbar II A BEIC copper Pice (1/2 I think) from the 1830s from the Bengal Presidency Obverse Reverse Speaking of Mughal emperor Akbar II (r. 1806-1837)... Copper, c. 1807 And finally a slightly older piece, from the Mauryan Empire (tentatively attributed to Ashoka) Obverse Reverse

When these aren't worn down, the amount of detail you can see incorporated into the queen's portrait on such a small coin is impressive.

South India Kingdom Copper Kasu 15mm dia..3,40gr Shivaganga Rajas, Sasivarnadeva (1730-1750AD) Obv: lord rama and laxmana Rev: lingam on alter with neately placed garland, (Mitch # 960), One thing that is confusing me is that on Numista they state this.. Only 5 coins from this Kingdom are known, all from 1743 (They mean types). Coin made between 1500 and 1580...Any thoughts? Paul

I have a large amount of different modern Indian coins from the past 100 years or so, but quick question for you all: I've noticed that the more recent Indian coins almost always look to be in worn condition, with much of the lettering and designs looking rubbed off. Is this just a result of wear from circulation, or do the coins just tend to be minted with weak strikes? It's been a real challenge finding nice looking examples of some of the denominations.

Here is my 1955 One Pice. This was the last year of the Pice. This the common type minted at the Bombay mint.

1890 Paisa of Ratlam (Ratnapuri). Thick planchet copper coin featuring the monkey god Haruman. A really neat coin that I just liked the style and design on and so I picked it up.

I found this pair somewhat amusing. Kind of, like, just in case the numerals aren't a clear enough indication of the denomination....
